NO CRYPTOCURRENCY INTEGRATION

Dear Discord Staff, Under no circumstances should you be integrating cryptocurrency/NFTs with Discord. Cancel your plans for it. I was considering purchasing Nitro but I absolutely will not and will never if you go through with this. A single blockchain transaction uses about as much energy as my entire family goes through in a whole week. You run on carbon neutral servers last I checked. Has your stance on minimizing environmental impact changed? And don’t try to argue “but there’s technology being developed that will be better for the planet.” What about NOW? We are facing a climate crisis NOW! Waiting for things to improve is deadly. Crypto as a whole and NFTs specifically are also being used as money laundering fronts, because it’s unregulated. You do not want your name tied to this. If the current Infrastructure Bill passes in US Congress, crypto is going to start to be heavily taxed. The bubble will burst, all the slimebag criminals running Ponzi schemes will scatter. And you will be screwed should you decide to participate. No crypto. No NFTs. Stay out of it, or you’ll lose money and your trust with your user base.
