The discord Crypto debaucle

Discord since day one has been a social platform. While they have ways of aquiring money through nitro and boosts, I dont understand why you need to make more when you have enough money to keep afloat. Why would you turn to crypto of all things? Crypto is one of, if not, the leading cause of energy consumption. Why try to add to the problem that is ruining this planet, just for some extra cash?
