Doesn’t Discord already have a scamming problem? Why would you integrate Crypto/NFT support?

I feel like I’m already seeing lots of people getting their crypto wallets hacked via Discord, and integration isn’t even available yet. How on earth is Discord gonna keep cryptodweebs from getting their JPEG money stolen? Also, just in case it hasn’t been said enough: blockchains aren’t getting any greener, and artists are having their work stolen and placed into what is tantamount to a pyramid scheme, which is 100% not okay. Crypto/NFT integration is going to be a disaster on all fronts.

  Yeah, you'd think they'd at least fix the myriad of pre-existing security issues they have before doing this. That's one of the things that struck me as odd too. There's not even a good foundation for any of this.

  It's such a garbage decision to integrate crypto. It really shouldn't go through with all the bonkers trouble implied here.

  I 100% agree with you. There's no reason to bring crypto and NFTs into Discord. Just trying to keep up with the trends, it seems, which never seems to be a good thing on this platform. Also, your headline for your post gave me a good laugh, because yeah, I've received like four scam dms in the last week. Don't need the entire platform to become a scam as well.

  yeah this is one of my problems with adding crypto wallet integration. discord's full of scams and phishing links, and i'm worried about the potential ramifications for crypto users' finances. if someone's stupid enough to make their discord and metamask passwords the same...good luck!

  yknow, aside from the usual crypto scams and the market being a bubble. and the upcoming crypto regulations. but other people have covered that better than i can

  All the other commenters are so right. I want to say I get scammers at least twice a month. Discord should definitely not go forward with this
