blocking on discord

I have had to deal with this for far too long and I am sick of it. The current blocking system on Discord is incredibly lazy. Rather than being able to not see those I have blocked, I can see them front and center right next to my friends list. What frustrates me most about this is that there aren't any options to hide users, rather, unblocking is the only option available. This tells me Discord does not care about the safety or mental health of its users, let alone cares about the platform in general. 

Worse than this, if you have blocked someone on a server, you can see their profile on the sidebar and the messages they send with a terrible overlay. What makes the overlay even more of a punch in the gut, you have the option to see their messages! What in the world, Discord! I do not want to see someone at all!

What I gather from this issue is that 1. Discord assumes all of its users are petty and childish as to want to cause more and more drama on the platform 2. Discord is lazy and can't be bothered to remove these things and hide users entirely 3. Discord will most likely have a ridiculous reason the system is the way it is because it doesn't particularly care for the individual user experience, rather, it cares for its public image not being tainted more than it already has.

Possible solutions:

1. Remove the blocked users and blocked message features, the only way to see users you've blocked is to go through buried settings to assure people will have to think twice before unblocking people

2.  Remove the option to unblock from the blocked users tab, replacing it with a hide user feature, and only have the option to unhide if you have the name of the account and its corresponding number

3. Be more transparent about why the system is the way it is! I think many users are left in the dark with no genuine clue as to why they can still see every user they've blocked and essentially discourage the blocking of people.

Discord, please listen to your users. This platform is wonderful! however, it catastrophically fails in many aspects. Thanks, fellow users for reading. I don't know if Discord will see this post but share it if you wish.
