Avatars by server

Past 4k votes- nice!
Share this thread in servers that allow it, I think this one is getting a spike and hopefully if we keep that going it will be put on one of the front burners.

Please this is the most needed discord feature. Could even make it a nitro perk if they really had to.
5 -
Yes please! This is long overdue
7 -
Yes please. I use Discord for gaming, and I'm different characters in the different servers. Being able to change the picture to the character that I'm playing would be very helpful.

Having just set up a discord server for my patreon subscribers I'd very much like this feature implemented so that I can have a content based icon for that and a different one for all the places I'm not not running

Years later and this feature is yet to be added. Is the Discord team even reading support posts, or are they just outright ignoring it? This has been requested since 2018 and the Avatar by Server feature is yet to be included. It's not hard to implement it, and even if it is, it shouldn't take years to implement it. The fact that the guys at Discord is ignoring this shows that they're secretly disconnecting themselves from us, which isn't a good sign, especially from their lack of responses.

I really thought the new update was gonna include this because of the wording but no. This is so sad. At least reply to us!!

Hey Discord, that new update sure was some interesting talk but you know what would really help us pull our non-gaming friends into your community? The ability to choose avatars by server. I'm not about to invite my friends and family from Skype because I don't need Grandma asking me about why she's looking at my DnD Character, and I don't want the people I've met online looking at a photo of me. If you want your platform to be more inclusive, give us an option where we can express ourselves the way we need to across all our servers.

Hear, hear! What Keybladesage said!

Be cool if discord spent less time being SJW and more time developing tbh

Actually how about both? Advocating and striving for justice is not incompatible with, or even a distraction from, being a solid communications platform. They are at least parallel goals, and maybe even intertwined goals, since being accessible and welcome to everyone is definitely part of being a reliable and useful means of communicating.

I'd take a good product over a woke product anytime of the day

Need it !

This is sorely needed!

I also think this would be a very great feature. Working just like server nicknames, nickavatars?

I feel that this is an important feature, especially if Discord really does want to expand and have people feel comfortable using servers for education and other groups where they may be expected to use a photo of themselves. Many of us are now members of several servers and avatars that are appropriate for some are either not appropriate or can create confusion on others. Please implement this!

A Discord server I am in was talking about this, and it would be such a cool feature! That way we can express ourselves more in each of our servers!

I want this feature, If you want to be used in both gaming and professional setting you need to be able to express yourself correctly. Again this small feature is important, Please assign someone with this ticket.

I wish I could ignore tickets for 2 years..

I'm +ING this thread. Please implement this!

Come on devs, at least respond! There have been over 4k posts to this thread.

Kind of amazed that this isn't supported, surely the devs must have noticed this ommision a long time ago?
People are using the same account for gaming, work, and non-gaming social groups - and a single shared avatar is rarely appropriate across all uses.
Even when just used for gaming, it'd be nice to use a pic of, for example, my WoW character on the guild server, but something else on other servers.
Just having a 'hide avatar on this server' option might be a simpler-to-implement improvement - so you can choose to use either a serious/work avatar, or a fun/gaming avatar, and hide it where it may be inappropriate.
But ideally, let an account have N avatar images and select per-server. After 2 years of this thread I suspect many would pay a small fee to unlock additional avatar slots...

Since we're so many, we might as well become a community. I've made us a discord server. Join here https://discord.gg/cx6FdF9

Awesome idea! Don’t forget to bring your own avatar!

YES PLEASE!!! I AM IN A FEW RP SERVERS AND CRAP LIKE THAT AND I NEED THIS!!!

Please.

This isn't even about "expressing myself." It's about participating in multiple communities. My local friends don't care about my Star Trek game. And my family doesn't need to see my RPG character. But... Here I am. The admiral of my Star Trek fleet. So... I have this avatar from my game. I won't encourage my family to get on Discord. And my friends are stuck looking at Jason Isaac. And I don't even know wtf I'm looking at for them. One looks like an anime that I've never seen, another a video game that I've never played, and then there's one that I do not recognize at all. And forget a work group. I would have to set up a whole new account. I'll just use the products that they found and not promote Discord. It's quite a shame. Otherwise, I would be using and promoting the product more.
