[Implemented] Preventing Automatic Game Registration in Discord
I would like to propose an enhancement to the functionality of the current activity as a status message, specifically in regards to game and application detection. The current system provides two options: Allowing for automatic detection of all games or no detection at all. I believe users could greatly benefit from a more nuanced, user-centric approach.
My suggestion is to implement a toggle option to disable the "Automatic Game Registration" feature. By doing this, we can introduce a new feature, "Manual Game Registration". This alternative won't automatically detect and register games, providing a layer of user-driven control and customization. This feature could complement the existing "Add Game" option under the "Registered Games" settings.
The goal of this proposed feature is to enable users to selectively decide which applications or games they would like to display as their status message. Currently, users are forced to either display all detectable games or none at all, which can be limiting.
By offering more customizable options, we can cater to a wider variety of user preferences and enhance their overall experience.
Over the past few years, a consistent need has been expressed by various members of our community for a specific feature enhancement in our beloved platform, Discord. Today, I'd like to draw your attention towards this important request which has been echoed by countless users.
The first request for this feature dates back to 4 years ago, clearly indicating its long-standing demand among users. Since then, it has been a recurring theme in user feedback. Notably, I've recently encountered 15 separate instances of similar requests, all voicing the same desire for this feature's integration. The persistence and commonality of these requests highlight the significance and potential value this addition could bring to our user experience.
Here are 15 instances of the same requested feature:
- Ability to hide specific verified games
- Ability to permanently remove registered games
- [Request] Import/Export Registered Games list
- A configuration option that enables users to hide specific game statuses and choose the display priority.
- Hiding Certain Game activities
- Ability to hide certain games
- Certain game
- I want a function that can turn off certain game activities.
- Game Activity: Enable/Disable certain games
- [REQUEST] Be able to disable game status for certain games
- The ability to hide specific games from "Activity Status"
- Exclude certain .exe files from showing in game activity
- Option to show/hide specific game status information
- Ability to hide/disable specific verified games from "Activity Status"
- Ability to blacklist applications from Game Activity.
Thank you for considering this suggestion.
EDIT: This feature was implemented.
Kind regards.

I think you can do some of these already.

Can you be specific? What do you mean by "some"? They all want the same feature that I proposed here and what was proposed 4 years ago here.
You can go to "Registered Games" under "User Settings" and hit the red X from an "Added Game", but the removed game/application will reappear once you launch it again, so the detection is persistent and it always registers. Currently you can either display game/application as a status message without having control of which application/game to be displayed, or you can switch that feature off entirely.

-
Open Discord and go to the User Settings by clicking on the gear icon located at the bottom-left corner of the Discord window.
-
In the User Settings, navigate to the "Game Activity" tab on the left-hand side.
-
Under the "Game Activity" tab, you will see an option called "Automatically Detect Games." Toggle off this option to prevent Discord from automatically registering the games you play.
-
Additionally, you can also disable the "Display currently running game as a status message" option to prevent Discord from showing the game you're playing as your status message.
-
Once you have made the desired changes, close the User Settings window.
By disabling the automatic game detection and status message display, you will prevent Discord from registering and displaying the games you play Rent Lamborghini Dubai. This way, your gaming activity will remain private and not be automatically shared with others on Discord.

sheraz shah I'm not sure where you're pulling this information from, but it seems like you are hallucinating. There are no "Game Activity" in User Settings. The option to "Automatically Detect Games" does not exist. Please stop using tools to generate misinformation.

Preventing automatic game registration in Discord is an effective way to maintain control over the games you play and the information shared within your server. By disabling this feature, you can avoid the potential clutter and interruptions caused by games automatically registering and announcing themselves.

Discord doesn't automatically register or detect games played on your computer by default. However, Discord has a feature called "Game Activity" that allows users to manually add and display the games they are currently playing. If you want to prevent Discord from automatically detecting and displaying your game activity, you can follow these steps:
Disable Game Activity:
- Open Discord and go to User Settings (click on your profile picture at the bottom left).
- Navigate to the "Activity Status" section.
- Toggle off the switch for "Display rent a car dubai currently running game as a status."
Reset Game Status:
- If Discord is still showing your game status after disabling the above option, you can manually reset it.
- Go to User Settings > Game Activity.
- Click on the "X" next to the game you want to remove.
Please note that the exact steps and options might vary slightly based on updates or changes made to Discord after my last knowledge update. Always refer to the latest version of Discord and its documentation for the most accurate information.
