gg sans: Discord’s New, Custom Font
Starting December 1, 2022, Discord will begin updating the font across all of its surfaces to our new, custom font, gg sans. Everything from the Discord mobile and desktop apps to our website and blog will use gg sans as their typeface. This change gives Discord the flexibility to customize our font going forward so that we can continuously provide you with the best experience on Discord.
The meaning behind gg sans
gg sans highlights one of our favorite characters in our new typeface, the lowercase “g”, and is an ode to our gaming origins. ‘gg’ is an abbreviation for ‘good game’ and is frequently used on our platform. It’s also baked into the foundation of our company, using discord.gg in any of our shared links.
