Implementation of a Force Password Reset Process for Discord Accounts with Lost 2FA Methods
Hi Discord team,
I have a suggestion that I believe would improve the security of Discord accounts. As someone who has personally experienced the frustration of losing access to my two-factor authentication (2FA) methods and not being able to reset my password, I think it would be great if you could implement a force password reset process for users in similar situations.
I understand that losing access to 2FA methods can be a common occurrence and can create significant security concerns. Therefore, I believe this feature would help users feel more secure and regain control of their accounts.
To ensure the force password reset process is secure, I suggest requiring users to provide additional information to verify their identity before initiating the reset process. Some possible requirements could include:
- Providing their registered email address for the account.
- Answering security questions to confirm their identity.
- Providing additional information, such as their IP address or device information, to further confirm their identity.
I believe that this process would help to ensure the security of Discord accounts and prevent unauthorized access.
Thank you for considering my suggestion. If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know.
Best regards, Anz
