Do not change the username system.
This update will not fix anything.
While you say the change is for clarity and to make it easier to share your account with your friends, this new system won't fix that. Most social media sites have this, including ones with the same system you're planning to implement.
It also won't fix the issue of a username being too complicated, in fact, it might make them even more complicated. What if I have a simple username that I want to keep? If it's already taken, I'll be forced to make it more and more complex until it's far too complicated to explain aloud.
Along with this, you're taking away a Nitro benefit with what feels like little to no warning. Even if it's a small cosmetic change, it's still something people were paying money for.
The old system was fine, if you wanted to share it with those in real life you can just write it down. Four simple numbers are not hard to memorize. In fact, the simplicity of the system and customization of your Discord profile were a big draw.
I could also get into the issues of impersonation, account selling, and the fact this update takes privacy away from your users.
This update is absolutely pointless and will only make your platform less accessible to new users, while alienating and angering old users at the same time. Nobody on Discord actually wants this.
