The removal of disciminators will enable cyberstalking, harassment and more
In addition to the original blog post detailing a completely made up techbro fantasy where they come to the rescue of a lowest common denominator in a fringe scenario and taking absolutely no accountability for the lack of UX available to help less tech-savvy individuals to remember their discriminator, the removal of discriminators will hurt the privacy of large figures (such as celebrities, game developers, and content creators) by making them significantly easier to track down, and even make abuse victims a significantly more visible target of stalking.
This update is not only just straight up unnecessary, but spits in the faces of abuse and stalking victims who have used Discord due to the level of security provided by discriminators.
The discriminator helped users to quickly change their entire account details in a flash. A one-size-fits-all username would be significantly more cumbersome and frankly I do not trust Discord's staff team full of tone-deaf techbros to allow people to change their username free of charge, especially since this comes in the face of a paid Nitro feature being removed.
The Discord team needs to wake up, get out of their techbro fantasy world, and realize that this causes more problems than it fixes (which is 0, by the way. The amount of problems it fixes is 0.) and falls to complete and utter shambles when held to even the slightest degree of scrutiny.
