About the usernames
I think it would be much more straightforward if you kept our original discriminators as part of our username, even during and after the transition. Instead of having users pick their own usernames in order of seniority, it would be better to just update people's usernames to username_olddiscriminator, and give people the option to change their username after.
For non-ASCII usernames you can use punycode to encode the username during the switch. This is the easiest way to ensure backwards compatibility, while allowing usernames with non-ASCII characters.
I can see why from a technical and engineering perspective why the old username system was broken; however such a transition would be better done while breaking as little stuff as possible. This change is no exception. New features are a great idea, but they should not interfere with old ones.
Of course, I can presume deleted users will probably have the username "0" (like on TikTok) or "deleted_user".

Even if they DID follow your suggestions, that wouldn't solve any of the other problems with the new system, like the username selling, sniping, the stalking, impersonation, harassment, mass spamming, etc. It's just better if they don't do it at all.
I'd go ahead and add your opinion to the main thread even though you're suggesting an alternate solution and not simply saying 'don't do this.'
it can't hurt!

black market for discord accounts is already blooming, it will be scammers' heaven, ppl will not be able to have their name. Ye, this is for sure better in technical and engineering perspective xD
