Why would you force everyone to take this new crappy update without asking the community first?
I don't understand it.
I just simply can't wrap my head around it.
The entire REASON for this discriminator username system was because this "new" one, the one that you're trying to shoehorn in for some reason, is actually the OLD AND OUTDATED SYSTEM that many communities have strayed from.
Nobody likes having to make their username crusty just because little reginald from ten years ago took the username you want and then ditched the account.
Listen to the community for once you completely out-of-touch, sand-filled condoms. If you refuse to do this one simple task and abort this update, I (among many others) will cancel my Nitro and will be finding other server-based forms of contact.
It's sad. Discord used to actively engage with its community. Why did that stop?

They CLAIMED that the userbase wanted it - they said that 40% of people didn't like the discriminator system (which is still a minority, I might add) - but they gave absolutely no source for this and as far as I can tell didn't really do any data collection. They misrepresented a single post to claim people didn't understand the discriminator (it's just that they didn't know the term 'discriminator' for it, so sorry your userbase isn't coming into everything with an in-depth knowledge of coding terms that no one needs in order to use a messaging client) and used that to justify their change. It makes no sense.
I will say - don't wait to cancel your nitro. DON'T WAIT. They won't listen to people threatening to cancel. They'll only listen to ACTIONS. You can always re-sub later if they walk it back! Cancel now to prove that you actually mean it in a timeframe that will actually have an impact.
And also, if you don't mind and you haven't already, please add your vote and comment to the main post! https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/14337329256983--Do-NOT-add-The-new-discord-usernames-system
