Username feature

Please don't touch the #9999. First of all it's such a cool feature that everyone loved, it is what differentiated discord from every other app. I don't want random people adding me or finding me. I don't want some ridiculous username that would hide my identity. It has worked for all these years so why touch it. It was such a good feature and it truly makes me sad you're doing this. I don't know a single person who uses discord that liked this idea, and I've been in discord since it's beta days, since 2016. Please do reconsider your choices

    Yes, it will be problematic for me and for a lot of my Discord bots, if i can't keep my discriminator, i will have a lot of problems, i use my Discord account to provide support for almost non updatable 30 soft, and i still receive a lot of requests about that, so, no more support, and i will have A LOT of work to do to adapt a lot of Discord bot, and i don't have time to update my bots, i don't think i will still use Discord to provide support if they remove the discriminator system .

    You are correct, btw, the 'people finding me' is something that discord seems to have entirely decided is not worth caring about. I don't WANT to be found by random strangers and spambots. smh. Many times i have turned down or ghosted friend requests from strangers. if that's what their data is using - THAT WAS ON PURPOSE! I didn't WANT those to connect!

    W.O.L.F either way you shouldn't rely on user tags / discriminators for your Discord bots as those can be changed. Use User IDs :)

    Yes, i know, my main bot is from 2017, and it have a lot of good features, but this bot rely on some servers (not Discord servers) that use ID for auth, and tag/discriminator to store the username, but i also have some very old commands that still use discriminators for some things, i know it was a mistake, and i know i can use ID for some of those commands . My bots have a LOT of commands, and i must modify almost all commands, it use ID, but it also use discriminators, i have 19 235 occurrences for Id, and 4 716 occurrences for Discriminator for my main bot, i must modify a lot of unmaintained but still used bots and convert bots registry, and i don't really want to do that, so, if Discord change the username system, i will stop to maintain them, i'm already on too many projects ... But i appreciate your help ! ^-^

    Discord staff doesn't care about what any of us think. Cancel Nitro on them if you're a subscriber.
