Phone Verification

This is the exact problem I'm having. I use a VPN for my own privacy and they automatically blacklisted me, demanding I give them a phone number (which I'm obviously not going to do, since it defeats the purpose of using a VPN).

Such a crappy way to treat people.

If you get your account deleted, and your phone number doesnt work, you have to use anothers and might need to switch accounts if phone numbers arent working. If the phone code doesnt send, try another number and send the request via web browser.

I just ran into this as I was looking at moving a large community to Discord. I work with victims of violent crimes who are very careful about their online privacy. Having all of my members run into this would be a nightmare. I'm glad I know this now before moving everyone here. We definitely won't use Discord. Thanks go everyone for all their 'shares' here.

I lost access to Discord too. I had a great time there, for all I cared about was a good time; although, I may have accidentally triggered an anti-proxy security-system. What sucked was that I am now required to have a phone number when I never had a phone, and I have been sending message after message to anyone on the Discord Team that is a non-bot to fix this; so far, all I receive was the same exact responses that you were all getting. My buddies there do not know why I have not met with them, and I knew them for months.

Ran into this EXACT problem STILL two years later.

As is typical of larger companies once they become successful I got "Handled" that same way.

"Go to the forums"  "I will pass on your feedback"

You would think it would be a pretty straight forward problem. A simple look into your account history and age and they can see you are not a scammer. Heck, even look at the messages I was sending people that triggered this stupid "Bug" to see that I am not a scammer.

    - From an account that has been using discord and ENCOURAGING its use since it first came out.

I can't believe how bad of a problem this is. It's absurd

Especially considering you can easily cheese it by using dodgy websites to fake SMS. So scammers will just bypass the system easily and it only effects legitimate people who either dont have a phone or do not want a phone.
