Color Management System Suggestion
Implement a user specific server color similar to how 'server nickname' currently functions:
- if set: defines server color for that user, overrides color from roles.
- if not set: highest colored role of user defines their color (= current system)
Would also require:
- 'Change Color' permission of identical function as the current nickname variant, allows setting your own color.
- 'Manage Colors' permission identical to nickname variant, allows setting other people's color.
- 'Change Color' option in the right click context menu of server members, with a 'Default' (= 'not set') and a color picker option (= 'set') similar to the one for roles.
Benefits:
I realize this is most likely a massively complex suggestion to add at this point. But the added versatility / simplicity in managing colors would be great. From my experience there may also be a large amount of servers using extra roles just for colors. These unnecessary roles take up unnecessary resources themselves, both in stored data and runtime complexity of updating permissions/other roles (noticeably slows down with many roles). These savings might balance out the cost of implementing (to some extent), and it would be a very nice addition for all of us that get strangely attached to our discord colours :).
