Moderation and Alt Checking
For server moderation, finding alts has been a very difficult process. As someone who is part of the staff team of a verified server, we have had countless raids and attacks despite Discord's claims that the IP ban system is good enough. Discord is notorious for the data it collects from users. Therefore, I am proposing better tools for server staff to use in the fight against trolls and bad actors inside their communities.
My proposal is a submenu added to the "VIEW PROFILE" menu. Along with "User Info", "Mutual Servers", and "Mutual Friends" there should be a menu labelled "Moderation". This new menu would give information on the possible alts and connections that the user has/had with previous members of your community. This includes the listing of deleted accounts (by the “Deleted User” tag). This menu would only be populated by accounts that have joined the server you are moderating, and no other connections will be shown.
A possible example of such a UI would appear like this,
User Info | Mutual Servers | Mutual Friends | [Moderation]
[Moderation]
Possible Discord links (?)
deleted user#0000 (IP) [Kick] [Ban]
definitely not an alt#0000 (Hardware) [Kick] [Ban]
Stop banning me#0000 (Hardware) [Kick] [Ban]
mr alt 842#0000 (IP) [Kick] [Ban]
The (?) text would display, “IP ties are not guaranteed connections. Please remember that some communities share networks (colleges, cafes, disenfranchised people, etc...)”.
When clicking a name, open the profile of the person, similar to the mutual friends list. Clicking the kick or ban buttons would execute those actions on the server for the alt.
At no point would this system expose the IP addresses or hardware information of the user. It would simply list the ties that the user has to other accounts. This system serves the purpose of stopping trolls from disrupting communities and causing havoc. This system does not infringe on the privacy of members or their ability to participate in the community. If there is legitimate criticism besides “system bad! i need hidden alts!”, I would be more than willing to refute it.
To handle who can see the moderation menu, it could be added as a permission to roles on the server. This way, general server users have a more difficult time harassing people.

As somebody who has been dealing with raids, ban evasions and trolls on a verified server that belongs to game franchise, I can't itterate enough how I wish we had a tool like this. More than that I don't understand why wasn't it implemented already in the first place.
Frankly speaking, I don't enjoy spending time on catching a bunch of trolls that feel compelled to strike back at staff with no tools from the platform (discord) itself to protect us fron unneccessary stress of dealing with somebody who has time to make bunch of alts just to troll every day for "wronging" them.0 -
One of the best ideas on this forum. I feel this might be a bit hard to execute because the accounts that are ALTS usually won't have a connection except for being in the same server maybe. Still a great idea!

Anklast, thank you for your written support.
BlitzDBS, thank you as well. I believe that Discord has enough analytical data available that it could catch and highlight the most common of trolls. IP ties alone would make the system infinitely better. If Discord does have hardware identification methods, it would also enable some deeper insight. Of course, the most common tool of the troll, Discord in the web browser will still pose difficulties but that is a different discussion entirely.
