Explain what an NSFW server is to me and why tf does discord have them?

Explain what an NSFW server is to me and why tf does discord have them? I'm not stupid or anything just wondering why discord allows NotSafeForWork servers? Not trying to get into a fight, just questioning a feature. Also, how does discord know you don't have 9 yr old on an 18+ server? Doesn't make sense. DISCLAIMER: NOT TRYING TO ARGUE/GET INTO A FIGHT!

    NSFW is not safe for work, the equivalent to NC (Not for Children) on Movies and TV.

     

    Only people 18+/16+ in some countries should view this type of content.

     

    This includes any inappropriate content, such as (the following terms have 1 letter altered to prevent uncomfortableness) parn, sax, ripe, hore, grumming, Lolicon, Shotacon, cub, etc.

     

    Just a reminder: don't draw or display any NSFW content outside of the designated NSFW channels in a server.

     

    Servers fully NSFW are strictly prohibited, even amongst a small group of people.
