Built-in Muting
The ability to mute people without using roles is an absolute miracle come true. With servers that have verification roles, most people often:
- Don't know how to setup a mute role whilst having a verified role.
- Setup a mute role only to realize it doesn't work for some reason.
- Think that a mute role and verified role can't coexist. (or are told so)
Mute roles and verified roles in fact can coexist but in most cases, users don't know how to make them coexist and sometimes certain channels, due to their permissions, can't have the mute role and verified role coexist. The usual solution to all this messiness is a bot that removes all roles except a single mute role but this just isn't good enough. This is a few minutes to an hour of work depending on the user's knowledge but it's easily fixable by just adding a built-in mute feature.
This feature will be just like the kick/ban feature, the button will sit in the same spot, will have the ability to put a reason, etc. The only additions will be as follows:
- Option to select time
- An unmute button, duh.
- Option for perma-mutes. (the time period for these should be limited to prevent people who want to ban users but want to keep the members in)
- Auto muting via bots should be disallowed to prevent a work-around for the stuff I said in the addition above this one.
- A mute tab in the settings to keep track of muted users.
- Option to select a date and time for the unmute to occur.
- The ability to select who the user can DM while being unmuted. (Owner, Admins, Users, or Nobody)
- The ability to choose if the user can view the server or not.
- The ability to choose if the user will keep the perms of their role or another role, this would be setup in the settings to automatically do the role change if enabled. (the perms are overrided if the user can't view the server)
I think I went overboard with the additions but it seems like a start to a hopefully better muting system.
