Having a hard time adding people as friends

Ever since the new unique username system got introduced I'm facing countless problems trying to add new people a friends! They just don't seem to be able to recall which variation of their preferred username they actually went with and/or have trouble communicating it!

This is a nightmare! It was so much easier to find them before!
