Please limit moderator access to servers.
Every week another server (or 10) is compromised. In crypto Discord hundreds of thousands of dollars have been stolen by scammers who gain control of servers either by baiting a moderator who does not understand server security or social engineering their way into a moderator spot. These people SHOULD NOT have enough access to either take over a server or allow an attacker to do so. It simply cannot be overly difficult to limit moderator access to server controls and stop the most common attack vector to Discord crypto scams. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

It honestly sounds like what you're asking for is just for the server owner to make better choices with how many permissions they give their moderator role. This feature already exists in Discord, and clearly, whoever's running these servers isn't doing a good job at setting their permissions up properly nor are they actually bringing in trustworthy moderators. Discord staff can't fix that.
Server roles are a hierarchy, and every role that gets created has a set of permissions that the server owner (or the role above) can manage IF the permissions are set up that way. If the server owner was SMART, they'd give their moderators only the most basic of server management:
• Kick/Ban/Timeout regular members
• Delete/Remove messages
That way, even if scammers do get a moderator position, they still can't do anything worthwhile. The only person who should be able to promote more moderators is the server owner themself.I hate to say it, but this isn't an issue with Discord itself since the features you're asking for already exist. This is literally a skill issue with the people running the servers not being smart enough to set up their hierarchy better.
