Disable Appeal Feedvack
ok cause someone (@_en3my_ ) asked me my process of getting my disabling appealed, so i thought i’d do a post about it.
so discord disabled me because i posted a scam call centers number in my server and asked others to help report it or of course mess with them. apparently someone reported me saying it was their number so i was disabled for “malicious sharing personal info of another discord user.”
the first thing i immediately did was do a ticket. do not curse at discord, they will basically “blacklist” you from making appeals if you do. i reached out to their twitters (discord & discord_support), and both ignored me for 15 days in dms and me @ ing them publically about it.
also, i found out later that if you make any replies after the initial reply, the ticket is sent to the very far back of the queue. Is this stupid? yes, completely, but it’s their policy so be patient unless you absolutely have to let out your frustration. any new tickets related to the same issue after the initial ticket will be marked solved immediately, but if you continue to spam it, they’ll “solve” your initial ticket and thus be “blacklisted” from creating new tickets period. so don’t spam the ticket system.
every day for a week i’d be dming discord on twitters and eventually i had enough so i filed a better business bureau complaint, and discord said that they had “high ticket volumes” and that they would only handle the issue in the ticket, not the BBB complaint. so i responded in the ticket saying that if they did not respond to me in four days (completely reasonable time frame) i would mark the BBB response as unsatisfactory. by the time i marked as unsatisfactory it was day 10 maybe? anyhoos, day 14, i started texting my lawyer friend at a NY firm about the issue so he faxed (idk how) a correspondence on my behalf for me. day 15 i got the notification from discord trust n safety that they removed my disabling.
tl;dr
so here are my takeaways:
1. make one ticket (either through email or the web ticket system, not both), explain as much of the situation that you can, use evidence, show hypocrisy if appropriate for your situation, (for instance big youtubers have servers centered around identifying these scam center numbers, wasting their time and reporting the numbers to authorities yet the servers remain untouched, but for me i was disabled, so because i’m not a popular youtuber i was disabled), but do not curse or attack the staff, because that’s just being mean/rude/disrespectful and they will not want to help you, and i don’t blame them. if you attack them whose to say you won’t attack others? they don’t want their consumers attacked.
2. If Clyde the automated AI nerd that recapitulates the disabling reason says something “related” and “solves” your ticket, it’s not actually closed if it’s your initial ticket, just respond to Clyde saying you understand that, but it’s not taking into account what you said and the context and situation. it’ll reopen the ticket (responding thus sends your ticket to the back of the queue, annoyingly).
3. be patient, follow up if you want. if you don’t get a response in 2-4 days, file a BBB complaint (they’ll give you 5 days to respond to the business’ response when they do respond). mark satisfactory or unsatisfactory where appropriate. i don’t recommend marking satisfactory if they say “only use the ticket high ticket volumes” because that’s not a resolution, i’d wait and note in the actual discord ticket you filed a BBB complaint and will mark it satisfactory if an appropriate response is given in (4 days max) (i know this sends your ticket to back of queue, but it lets them know).
optional advice: i don’t know if this affected my outcome but if you have the means and know without a shadow of a doubt, then i guess send a legal correspondence. corporations don’t want to deal with that. i know discord has a team of lawyers, but if it’s EVER SO SLIGHTLY clear that your rights as a consumer are violated (especially if it’s your first time receiving action against discord), they’ll likely just remove it and say “for the future if you violate the rules you’ll be disabled permanently” yes, discord has an arbitration clause that you can opt out of (which i did a very long time ago) but that doesn’t mean you can’t fight back on things, but if you actually did something very bad, this won’t help you. for people who were “accidentally” in servers with “inappropriate images of specific ages being passed around” yeah you’re not getting appealed unless you’re the person who did the initial reporting, sorry that’s just the way it is. age restriction stuff (like they think you’re not old enough to use discord when you actually are, id recommend just using BBB tbh or @‘ing discord on twitter to get it handled faster).
hope this helps, and i hope to see all my disabled friends back at discord farming to help me feed the wumpus. good luck.

I have sent them physical letters, appealed here 20 times, twitter messages and public tweets, facebook messages and public posts, called them (only to find out they have no call center), and even emailed their board and pinged their ceo. They do not care, once your account is gone, 99% its never coming back.
