Account was disabled(scammed for my username)(help isn't coming) Final update.
Hi, My account was disabled at around 7pm central yesterday. I never received an email but taking a look at what I was doing yesterday I believe I figured out why. I started talking to someone new a couple days ago, and specifically yesterday we began talking about a video game we supposedly both play. They asked if they could watch, and invited me a server. Upon joining the server I was presented with a “captcha” which asked me to select the image with color from 4 images, right click, copy, and paste the image into the verification channel. The image in question is nothing special it was a picture of someone eating popcorn on webcam, but upon reviewing it the person does look like they could be underage. I think I was tricked into posting that image so that they would report me as underage to discord to get my account disabled. I'm still very hopeful that discord support will assist me with this perhaps that's more likely if I'm persistent, but I wanted to let anyone here know maybe there is a new type of exploit people are using the get others banned so be careful.
Edit: New information has revealed that I was in fact lured into a scam where someone used a fake captcha to have me post a picture that gets you automatically banned. One of these replies has a video that details how that works. They invited me into a server asking if they could watch me play a video game after talking to me in DM's for a couple days. I would post the pictures I managed to get but they contain stuff I'm not sure discord forum managers would approve of. I have not received a reply from discord, and I'm worried at this point that I may not. If you are seeing this and haven't been scammed like myself be careful out there.
Edit 2: I have officially lost hope. Additional people coming forward with information that these bans are being carried out by a bot that acts unchecked but humans. The wealth of people reporting that the same thing happened to them, and that they are not being helped. The absolute radio silence when dealing with tickets related to my appeal. While the tickets that I put in related to the future of my server are answered with demonetization, and the advice that I should transfer my server to someone else. The precarious timing of this event as if the people who did it knew that discord support would not only be indisposed but also unable to help as the result of new policy. Finally being treated like a villain while people prey on me doing things that threaten aspects of my livelihood, and the livelihood of my friends has left me in a position where I feel as though I have no choice but to cut my losses. I'll be taking the advice of the support associate who I messaged about my server. Discord permitting I will be able to successfully transfer the server to my friend, and move on. If this manages to get resolved before my account is permanently lost I will update you guys.

@ jenna What did discord reply to you with and how did you get get around the response? “Your account was disabled for violating our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. We will not reinstate the account.”.

I am surprised about this since Rozianist provided lots of evidence to the discord team and they were unable to get the account back before it was deleted. I believe it might just be down to luck.0 -

It is very frustrating, I lost my IRL job and almost spend 2 week in Jail for something I didn't even do, everyone who saw my account posted those content stop talking to me since then, accused me of being a PDF, what a sad day of my life that lead to severe depression….I lost 5 years worth of Tech & 3D modeling work:(
This is what i send them, Literally the whole police report that contain my Full name, ID, Address…etc.

Is it happened after your account has been deleted? This thing that happened to me is very disgusting and make me feel sick in the guts, I've been working as website security to fight and combat this kind of content before, after what happened to me it's very sick in the gut

For whoever got their account deleted, I hope they can work something out with you guys. After 38 days, Discord have lifted the ban and I got my account back just an hour ago.

Oh my gosh, I got my account back just now too. I can't believe discord investigated and found the culprits. After 31 days if them telling me my account will not be reinstated they gave it back. I didn't provide that much evidence either I just told them what happen. Did not know this image was bad and they unban me. I hope people affected by this before get their accounts back. Salute to those that had to fall for the future of other accounts.

I got an email saying that discord “has removed this violation from your account” but it still says disabled. We'll see how it goes

Luffy wait really? After your account was deleted it was restored? and did you just keep reopening your ticket or how did that go? I kept trying for 2-3 days after mine was deleted but it was automarked as solved so eventually i just gave up.

James, it's highly probable that Discord lifted the violation after reviewing our chat history. Make sure to report those individuals, and if you've joined any Discord servers related to the issue, report those too. Let's make sure they're held accountable!

Marsarita LIT LIT LIT, here's the rundown: I've been on a mission to secure refunds for my 2024 and 2025 nitro purchases. Tried PayPal, no dice. Interesting twist though… Detail can't be posted and won't allow me to post it here. ( Talked to a lawyer & finally got in contact with my bank)
- Asked for data, no.
- Asked for refund, no reply.
- Lastly, just letting them know about this forum thread, a lot of people are effected by it.
Then, Discord sent an email saying they removed violations from my account and told me to change my password. Logged in to find 20+ random messages and friend requests—probably spam or folks checking my account status. Declined the requests, of course.
Now I'm beefing up my account security and urging others to do the same. And to those in the same boat—hang in there. Discord might just be resetting the timer on our accounts as they investigate. Keep pointing them in the right direction!

I immediately reported the scammer as soon as I had account access; I should have reported the server too while I was at it.

What might have had some effect is that I opened a bug ticket towards their technical support, attaching the picture (I've found it on twitter lol). They didn't respond to the ticket or anything, but the status got updated around 2 days afterwards without any messages in there.
Regardless, I'm glad we finally got this fixed. I'm pretty tempted to change my username now in order to not get scammed like this anymore

Luffy I see - so just so I understand, your issue wasn't the forbidden image and your account wasn't yet deleted before they restored it?
Just want to not waste my time trying to get their help again if my case is different. The ticket I put in told me there is no banned account associated with my email so they can't help.

Here is my summary:
Day 1 (Denial): Made 4, 2 in appeals and 2 in hacked account ticket section explaining what happened to my account, mainly explaining what happen to my account. How the process worked (Person asks > Join Server > Confirm rules > Unknowingly post Capcha image > Get Banned from AI)Day 2-14 (Anger) : All tickets either get closed instantly or bot response saying account will not be reinstated. I respond to reopen the tickets, only for them to get ignored and closed again (multiple times).
Day 14-19 (Bargaining) : Around this period, I researched online about successful appeals for discord accounts and made a one final ticket. Surprising the ticket remained open for a long time 1-3 days.
The Secret
From reading online forums, (reddit, twitter and here) the key to successful appeals was try to sound apologetic, while saying it with some professionalism. The advice I found was they use filter key words like “Ban, disabled and hacked” which flags the bot to instantly close the ticket or get a quick automated response. Subject should be something to get their attention like “Need urgent assistance or help regarding issues, etc”.I found that this worked as they took 1-3 days to look at my open ticket, before they closed it with the “account will not be reinstated”, but when I responded to the message my ticket also did not automatically get closed. I could see activity on the ticket as I would see last activity time and then it would still remain open with no one responding. (were they looking into it?)
Day 20 : File a BBB complaint (Better business bureau). As I heard they respond very fast there.
Day 21: Get a response within 24 hours saying “account will not be reinstated”, Kept on responding explaining to them it was an accident.
Day 23: 2 days later, They respond again saying the exact same thing “ account will not be reinstated”
Day 25 (Acceptance): BBB closed my complaint saying that discord is firm on their position and will not reinstate the account.
Day 28: I get a email from discord saying that my account was compromised and a was disabled, please reset your password. Reset my password to find it still disabled??? Okay, I guess.
Day 30 (Doomsday or so I thought): I honestly had no hope at this point of ever getting my account back and accepted that it was lost and so I was going to move forward, but I could not let the scammers win and take something away from me. So I had a team of friends and bots programed that was ready to snipe my discord name the moment it became available.
The time comes and the username still unavailable? 5 minute past… 10 minutes past… 30 minutes... 1 hour… Checking my account it still remains intact? Thought it was mistake on discords part so I wasn't too optimistic.
Day 31: Account still there, found Jenna's comment on this community post and saying that they got unbanned? Within 1 hour of that comment I made to Jenna my same final ticket had activity and 5 minutes later I got an email from discord:
"We’ve reviewed your content and determined that it does not violate our community guidelines.
We have removed this violation from your account. We are always working to improve our process. We appreciate your patience and contributions to our community."

Logged on to the account encounter 10+ messages from random people just checking if my account was gone yet. Official Discord message saying that I violated community guidelines 31 days ago and giving me 3 instant strikes. Check my account standing, all green with no previous violations. Reported the Scammers and found I was not in that discord server anymore, so I assume it got taken down.
At the time of writing 33 days have past, my account is still good with no issues. My struggle is over and I could not of had a better outcome.
Additional information related to the account:
Account has just past 8 year mark.
Discord nitro since 2019.
Has never had any violations before.
Name is 3 Letters. A somewhat sought after name, as I get multiple friend requests daily for it. I will never intend to sell my name or have any intentions to ever do so, but just looking online, my name would be marketed at around $300-500.Aftermath and conclusion
I will probably remain low on the account and use it for personal use only, disabling all friend request, no DMs from anyone but friends. Honestly, before this I believed that I was smart about these scams and phishing attempts from people. This scam has brought new light and has made me more skeptical of strangers in general, as they can mean to target something that you have that you don't know is valuable until you lose it. I will answer any questions in this post, but I not ready for DMs at the moment. I will also remain active on here for a week.0 -

Mine was completely deleted, because hacker spammed actual "Very bad Video” to get me disabled, and Discord Ignore completely, which is outrageous for me and my friend, since we almost get a nice Jail time for it. Last I got is this one, but it's been open for a while [7 days already]

hmm I see. I think because mine already got deleted, I won't get any help still. It would be nice to know that these investigations and unbans on the forbidden image are because of these forum posts and the ticket I put in explaining the scam that they did respond to saying they would investigate. Sadly I guess it didn't benefit me and the first victims, but glad some of you got the help!
I followed the same thing as James. My tickets were not closed immediately. Only after my account was deleted was my one ticket that I left opened closed within minutes repeatedly. It seems more about luck than anything to get a human to respond. I had two accounts that I used to report the scam and wrote similarly - one got a bot response that said they can't help, and the other may also have been a bot but it was the one saying they got the message and will investigate.

77 same. It's because their deletion process got put on hold. Their accounts didn't get deleted and eventually got unbanned.
Unlikely we will benefit, but I put in one last ticket to try my luck one last time.

Marsarita LIT LIT LIT That's fair and all but what should happen if its true that this thread was investigated and the exploit is being fixed is that “new” accounts should be created on our behalf using the currently blacklisted email addresses. The blacklists on our phone numbers should be lifted as well. In my case I was using the account actively to manage a server that currently has over 4k members. My monetization was stripped, my server has no owner account, and my discord monetization “team” used for stripe linking was dissolved. I can cut my losses when it comes to losing my friends list, my server list, all of the connections with people I had exclusively with that account, and f**k it don't even give me my username back. I need to regain the owner account for my server. I need the monetization reinstated on the server. I need to know that discord is a platform worth monetizing on or this platform is an instant messenger from now on and I'll be making sure any other content creator I work with from here on out knows exactly how sh*t it is and that they avoid monetizing on it. Am I a prominent figure who can impact discords content monetization bottom line? Honestly idk probably not but ill make sure to try. Imagine if a 50k+ sub youtuber could get banned for posted an entirely innocent video with obviously no ToS violation in it and youtube instead of fixing it hung them on hooks for 2 months, disabled their monetization, and then deleted their channel. Honestly youtube is big enough it might just get away with it. Discord is not, they are just starting out in content monetization, If people find out that you can just senselessly lose your income, and be IGNORED for months they wont monetize there.

I’m at loss for words… Discord Trust & Safety never replied to my efforts, proof or reports regarding this issue but now they tell me that they can’t locate an account with my email address after re-opening tickets for 8 weeks sacrificing a lot of my free time they want to tell me that my account was purportedly fully deleted. This is the response I got after following up on my original ban appeal from 2 months ago:

I mean I do agree that they should help us and I'm sure they could if they wanted to. This BS about not being able to restore accounts sounds ridiculous to me especially considering all the messages stay behind. Anyone who had DM history with your account still has everything there. The servers created by my account are still there too. My email still says it's already registered if I try to make a new account with it as well.
I still can use my phone number though. I dissociated it from my old account to my new one not long after since some servers I rejoined required it.
I got a different message from Clyde, but same deal. I replied to it hoping a human would answer but nothing so far. I doubt I will be helped, but I will update if I do. Someone here sent a whole police report and still got ignored so.. :(

J🅰cob if you happen to have a twitter platform or any kind of social media platform since you have a larger discord server, you should make a post about it (if you haven't already..). Or if anyone knows anyone with any kind of social media influence..ask them to make some noise about this issue.

I send them the whole police report which is SIGNED BY POLICE COL. HIMSELF, yet Discord still don't matter to look into it, so stressful and not helpful
