3/3/2024, GMT-8 (4/3/2024, GMT+10) - Account Hijack
It was 12 am. I was in the middle of a DnD session when I fell for the "Please help me test this game I'm working on" scam.
My discord started bugging, and instead of going to settings to reset my password, I passed it off as a simple bug, tried to restart and lost access to my account.

Hey there,
Thank you for providing the requested information. Upon review, I have canceled the subscription and removed your payment information from the associated account.
Please note that the charge you indicated to us on your card ending in 1989 doesn't appear to be affiliated with our platform/app. I'm afraid that we won't be able to provide support for this transaction if this charge occurred outside of our billing system.
For reference, all purchases made within Discord will be labeled DISCORD* ItemName within credit/debit card statements (depending on how your bank renders this) and PAYPAL* DISCORD if completed through PayPal.
For more information, you can check out our Billing FAQ here:
https://support.discord.com/hc/articles/360017693772
I recommend reaching out directly to the vendor associated with this charge for further support.
Additionally, if you are still waiting to recover your account, please wait for correspondence through your other open ticket with our Account Security Team.
We apologize for the inconvenience here, but please let us know if you have any other concerns.
Best,
Mary
I thank them for their help, and try to raise awareness towards my account recovery ticket by stating that all I want is for my account email to be reverted and for a password reset email to be sent.

Hey there,
Thank you for reaching out! Sorry to hear that you experienced this on our app.
**While our team investigates this, please read through the following points:**

- Follow the steps here to change the email address:
https://support.discord.com/hc/articles/44233856811752. Any unauthorized purchases on your account will be investigated and refunded accordingly.
3. If a new Discord account has been created without your permission using your email, please let us know right away.
4. Any updates or changes made to your servers, friends list, or messages are irreversible.
5. Double check and make sure all the information provided through the support form was accurate.
- If you are unsure about any of those details, please let us know in a reply. In the meantime, please let us know if you have any questions. Our team will respond as soon as they can; we truly appreciate your patience.
Sincerely,
Clyde - Discord Support Bot
I replied to the email with a simple acknowledgement.
10/4/2024 08:09 PDT - Account Recovery
Holy miracle
Hello,
Our team conducted an investigation and have reverted your account back to your original email. We apologize for the delay.
During this investigation we temporarily suspended the account. You should have received an e-mail with steps on how to reset your password. Once you have reset your password, your account will be re-enabled.Unfortunately, we are unable to revert any changes that were made to the account, such as changes to server permissions or messages sent.
If you haven't received the email yet, you can also use our forgot password feature available from the login page here: https://discordapp.com/login! You just need to type in your email address and then click "forgot password", and then you should get an email shortly with a link you can use to reset your Password! Here's a link with more information as well: https://support.discord.com/hc/articles/218410947
We recommend you make sure to have a strong password and enable two factor authentication on your Discord account! You can check out password managers like 1Password (Mac) or Dashlane (Windows) which make creating and storing secure passwords a breeze. Additionally, you can check out how to enable 2FA onto your Discord account through this link: https://support.discord.com/hc/articles/219576828
For future reference in protecting your account, here's some important tips to keep in mind:
- Be wary of clicking unfamiliar links (If you leave Discord by clicking on a link that brings you to an external site, it's possible that the website can access your personal information)
- Stay away from downloading unfamiliar files from anyone you don't know personally or trust!
- Group servers full of new people can be a great way to meet new people, but be careful about sharing personal information!
- Discord employees will never ever forever never ask you for your password or other personal information on text or voice chat.
- On that note, you can always ask us via Twitter or email if you're not sure. Better to be safe than sorry!
- Remember that any public announcement we would make will be broadcast across our official accounts, not heard second-hand!
If you have any questions, just let us know here.
Sincerely,
Discord Trust & Safety
Yup, I got my account back within minutes of sending in the ticket!
Thanks everyone who has acompanied me on this journey! I wish you the best of luck in your recovery process.
I'm always open to answer any questions you may have to the best of my ability.
-
Kamilamiron17 I sent in about 4 photos about the email changes where it sends you a code for the email change. Also, what my account looks like, the scammer themselves, which I had little of but was crucial, how I was unable to log back in my account. In addition, scam messages my account sent to my friends and other weird people I did not know.
I have been cleaning up the mess lately that the hacker made and assuring and apologizing to users who got the scam message and telling them I'm back in control.

I did send bunch of proof picture but they still won’t help me. Also, discord always solved my ticket few days after they escalated my ticket. But now they solved my ticket two days after I send it. It happen twice already. I don’t know what is wrong. Are they mark me as a scammer? But I only send another ticket after the last one got solved (without any help).
I send another ticket 10 minutes before I wrote this comment. I’m still hoping without good expectations tho.0 -
GreenWingSpino
How many tickets did you send before you got response from them?
0 -
Kamilamiron17 I sent about 18 tickets lol.
I would suggest maybe asking if you got an email in your inbox whichever email service you may have about an email change made on your account and for “Did you get an email from Discord” say “Yes” if you did or “No” if you did not.

GreenWingSpino
My twelve ticket got solved two hours ago. My friend suggest me to send another ticket after 4 days. I don’t know if that gonna change something but I’ll try any possibility. And for the one you said, I did choose “Yes” on it. And I don’t have any attached email to my discord right now. Even my phone number erased by them because I can input my phone number to my alt discord.
0 -
Oh, by the way. Before I change my email to the one that scammer gave me, I change my email to my other email. And because there’s a part to input the “email associated with the account before it was compromised” I input my email that I used to wrote this comment now. This is the email that I input to my discord before I changed it to the one that scammer told me to. I think it’s the right option tho.

Can I ask what time did you send your last ticket in your timezone? Because I think the timing is also important.
0 -
Kamilamiron17 I sent mine at 3:15 a.m. CST. Also I would believe between 3:00 to 5:00 a.m. is the key.
0 -
Whaaa---
I send my ticket every 11-12 every a.m and p.m GMT+7
0 -
Kamilamiron17 I've noted with me and Alpha we both got our accounts back, posting our tickets between those two times mine at 3:15 a.m. and theirs at 5:49 a.m.
0 -
Owh…
Also, does tag number important in the ticket? Becasue I enter Kamila Miron#5620 on my ticket which is the username that appeared when we click the tag icon on the profile. But my username that I wrote on my profile is different.
0 -
Kamilamiron17 Yes, I provided my tag number in the new ticket as a reference and you can do so also.

GreenWingSpino
Did you have a time gap before you send your last ticket? My friend told me to wait until 4 days to send another ticket.
0 -
Kamilamiron17 I went through about three and a half weeks without a response to my ticket before I made the new one that got me my account back. By then I retrieved back my old emails about the email change on my account and screenshotted and attached all 4 of them to my email alongside a message of mine trying to ask the actual Support themselves if they accidentally banned me.
0 -
I don’t understand what is wrong. I send a new ticket 2 days ago with the message from Alpha. Does sending too much picture will also considered as a scammer? Or should I wait for another three weeks to send a new ticket?
0 -
They solved my ticket again. Should I sent another ticket or reply to this ticket?
0 -
I tried to reply to my ticket but it got solved immediately
0 -
GreenWingSpino
You were sending a multiple tickets before right? How many tickets did you send after your open ticket on the first day were closed?
Because I think and I’m afraid that the discord already mark me as a scammer because I always send a new ticket after my ticket got closed. Now they always closed my ticket in two days without even escalating my ticket.
And, can I see what you wrote on your ticket? And how long until they responded to your last ticket?0 -
Kamilamiron17 I would suggest doing another ticket. I've been helping a friend too who's made a couple of tickets, but they're not considered spam on their end.
I sent about one ticket at a time after one was closed.
Here's my writing here:
To whom this may concern.
I fell for the “Instead of reporting the deceptive user, I mistakenly reported your account scam” on the 6th of March 2024 around 10:49 a.m. I got messaged by a friend that I did not know was hijacked at the time, and was redirected by someone claiming to be a member of support.
The hijacker made me change my email associated with the account as I put in with the past emails I have screenshotted for further verification of getting the emails, and made me disable my 2FA. When I got kicked out, and when I attempted to log back in to no avail saying my legit email and password were all considered invalid. My password was changed without my permission and my 2FA enabled on me unable to log back in.
I have proof of what the hacker from Discord spammed to my friends and managed to raise awareness to not interact with it and to block and kick it out of servers until I get it back. Also kept in contact with moderators and administrators I have closely worked with in a couple of servers I am in, including Roviocord where I maintained contact with the online community managers from Rovio Entertainment who have muted my account for now until I can get it back.
My email account associated with the Discord account is all stable and nowhere has the hacker done anything malicious with my account besides trying to spread the scam up until March 18th as last reported. My account has been left disabled ever since, with the “Offline” mark next to the profile. The hacker also never had any further contact with me ever since taking over my account.
I sent in a couple of support tickets before requesting to restore my email back on the account alongside a password reset link which has been unsuccessful so far. Here is follow-up Ticket ID:
Proof of ownership
- Username:
- User ID:
- Attached Phone Number:
- Password:
- Attached Youtube account:
- Attached Twitter/X account:Whichever important information you have of your account add it all in as you can.
I added my recovered email history of codes sent to me about the email changes alongside another email I sent to Support asking if they accidentally banned me but wasn't until later I learned about the scam further. Also sent forward images of what my friends managed to screenshot what my account was trying to do to them alongside what little conversation I had with the hacker.

I send my new ticket an hour ago actually. If they still won’t help me, I try to do what you did.
How long until they replied that they already give your account back? Because most of people got their account back after less than an hour. I still didn’t receive any reply yet.0 -
I think it’s a bad news for me.
My friend said it was a big mistake to send 3 tickets on the same day the first time sending tickets to discord because that would make our email marked as a scammer. And that's what I did the first day I was hacked. Even though it seems hopeless, I'll keep trying to send them tickets.
GreenWingSpino You’re so lucky you ever send them ticket before this. Because it’s not the first time you’re send ticket to them.0 -
Kamilamiron17 It took like 30 minutes for them to reply to me as I sent the ticket around 3:15 a.m. and the reply came in about 3:42 a.m. and restored my email back on the account. Didn't take me till around 8:30 a.m. when I woke up to see the reply and got back in my account asap.
I sent about either two or three tickets, but nothing was marked as spam on my end. I'm not sure how it is possible how after a while your tickets are marked as spam.

GreenWingSpino
Because it’s my first time using this email to make a ticket. My friend told me it was my mistake that I sent 5 ticket on the same day. I know it hopeless but I’m still trying to send them ticket.
Like, now they solved my ticket without even escalating them. What kind of hope should I have now? Everything is useless I think.
0 -
Kamilamiron17 So how many tickets do you have now only 5? Hopefully they will look at your case eventually, Sadly only patience is the only thing to just do. It is totally frustrating how even a simple task from Support can take so long.
0 -
GreenWingSpino
My 14th ticket got closed 3 minutes ago without even got escalated. It’s so hopeless now.
0 -
GreenWingSpino
Is there a time when your ticket got closed without being escalated? That’s how I think the discord already marked me as a scammer, even though I need help from them.
0 -
Kamilamiron17
I've had 2 instances where my tickets got closed without an escalation(marked solved within 6min for one, and within 30min for the other from ticket submission). I'm currently on my 6th ticket without my account back.0 -
It’s no use. There is still no response and they still won’t escalating my ticket.
0 -
Just had similar had a ticket that was opened and closed 2 days with only an escalation response and then a auto message.
The recreated the ticket escalted but no assignment and no response for about a week but the clyde bot reply was different then the one here.
Opened a new ticket got the same reply as this thread but was imediately closed 5 minutes after replying to the bot marked as solved assigned to nelly so replied again to that ticket to reopen it with a brief message saying issue has not been solved ticket closed with no response.0 -
Currently on my 7th ticket with the 7th being the one that has been responded too the same way Alpha's was
Just planning on sitting and waiting now and leaving the ticket open and just reopening it if they close it0
