Custom Themes
-
Command+Option+I opens dev tools on a Mac.
Just some simple theme swaps would be appreciated by many. The default font and theme are really really not good.

For me it's less that just the default font and theme aren't good, I just find a two-column server list theme to work a lot better for me. It is also appreciated when Discord looks pretty.

there's a reason things like betterdiscord are always stopped, and reasons why they never give alternatives to the services they provide.

Once again discord would rather ban people that use custom themes than to implement the solution. I dont know how many people i seen recently using client mods to change themes because discord is too lazy to do their job this litterly has over 8,000 upvotes. Discord themes from mods are getting very popular now. People that are using client mods to only change the look of discord are getting treated like criminals and getting their account deleted. This isnt fair so please implement the custom css themes or something to show you care.

Again, the dev tools cannot automatically load scripts or stylesheets. Therefore the injector is still a non-solution and no better than just adding a stylesheet/script.
BetterDiscord is dead and has been for a long time. I stated that in the body of the post. It honestly never was that great in the first place because of all the bugs.

BetterDiscord is against the Terms of Service to use anyway since it makes alterations to the Discord client. The dev tools don't, technically, but that's because they're not persistent between sessions and never touch the encrypted stylesheet that makes up the default theme. Ergo, any "dev tools" solution lasts only as long as you have Discord running. Once you close and reopen Discord, you have to redo the theme. The entire point of this suggestion is requesting a way for the users to have a permanent way to change their theme. I'd extend this request to offering a theme repository since Discord has a game store anyway.

I like this, but I don't need images. I'd like to be able to set my own colors or at least have more theme options.

Isn't this similar, when are normal servers getting this?

Bump, here's exactly what I want and example of what I think you'd be going for. Discord please!

I believe this would be helpful so that people who don't like the Blurple (dark) theme or the dreaded light theme can have some neat color changes and still be in the ToS

I just thought about adding the option to set up a personalized background/a Server background or channel backgrounds or something like that.

PLEASE please please ... Add support for different color schemes. This is not just a fun/aesthetic need. Your current choices are grey on grey (very hard to read) and grey on white (also very hard to read). If you have to have a boring default, please allow normal black on white for those of use who have to use Discord for various reasons but would rather not end up with a headache every day from reading low-contrast text.
Thank you.

I would love to make an all black AMOLED kind of theme. Customizable UI elements would be most desired, like what Telegram has done, except for confusing element names.

I am all for this, I have wanted more customization but I did not want to gamble with my discord account by using third party discord modifications like that.

I have a legit better discord: using it for business :D

Even better, make it optional per user

Not a bad idea honestly 0 -
Seriously, why isn't this a thing yet? Either local theme customization, or server customization (hell, even a paid option for this, I'd GLADLY pay some $$$ to have my server have a custom theme everyone can see upon joining).

There should be an option to set a custom picture in the background

Even though better discord is against the ToS and discord were to change it, there could be all sorts of vulnerabilities + discord would now have to give support for it. 0 -
I like that! It'd be soo cool. This definitely should be added 0 -
betterdiscord isn't a good way to go. It's unreliable and stops working because of discord updates. Instead of discord shunning features from betterdiscord they should just add them themselves.

Really 8550 up-votes and not even considered wow discord

i agree, though i think it would be nice to be able to have the ability to customize our own discord visuals in general! what i've been imagining is somewhat like google chrome themes, where you can scroll through a nice list and implement them to your everyday activity. i think it'd be a nice idea for the discord staff team to consider

I see this being a great feature and would be nice if it was added/integrated with a Discord Custom Client:

I might've said this before but I would absolutely never want to make it server-based
It should be on the user end
Like chrome themes
Or perhaps a mix
I can have my personal theme, but a server can also have an optional server themeOtherwise YES PLS DO IT ALREADY AAAAAAAAAA
