Invisible logins are NOT a good idea and it should be up to the server admins to allow or disable PLUS NO ONE should be allowed to conceal their login status from admins   regardless of how you login admins should be able to SEE you are logged in  simple as .

I want to know who is connected to my Discord server at all times.  Put a DND option but server admins should be able to see who is connected at any rime for a plethora of reasons.  Please add that option.  I would pay for this option as a premium feature.  I recently had someone who was invisible tryng to poach members.  Not cool.

People who argue that it's a privacy issue are just selfish.

If privacy is an issue then why be signed on at all?  If there are people you do not want knlwing when you are on then block them.  I think it should be a server admin choice whether to allow or not.  If becoming invisible is blocked on a server then warn the member before he/she joins.  Simple resolution.

The Need for the removal of the off line login was made even more evident recently on the server i am an admin on there is an URGENT NEED for this hidden/off line thing to be either blocked totally or be a choice of the Admins/Owner of a server . WHY are we having to fight for something that should be a standard part of the system we as admins MUST have control over who is in the server that includes banning hidden/offline status  .

If someone does not want to be seen then do not login  find another way to chat or be abusive .

Those who think it's okay to manually override someone's personally installed software, and say "it's because it hurts my fee-fees, is the most ignorant, self-centered bafoon I've ever seen. If I'm at home, and someone keeps knocking, I reserve the right to answer my door. I'm not opening it just because the person outside keeps yelling at me, claiming they know I can hear them. Online interaction is still with real people who reserve the RIGHT to use their personslly-installed platform-- on THEIR DEVICE -- as they choose. The moment you alter THEIR settings on THEIR device, you're violating THEIR virtual property. In most cases, that might be their mobile device.

I'm always on mobile, and I set it invisible instead of logging out, to show my friends I've gone to bed. If they still message, I might read it if I've gotten up to use the bathroom, but that doesn't mean I'm available to leisurely chat. I'm only checking my phone in case there's some emergency.

Those of you supporting altering someone's personal settings in their own software are supportong the equivalent of physically going into someone's device and changing it for them. I'd feel violated, because I didn't give my consent. But maybe that's only something us women understand. This proposition of violating privacy sounds like something a toxic male would want.

Gelyn, it's not personally installed software, it doesn't belong to you, you didn't make it. The only self centered Bafoon is the one who thinks they can put up with someone yelling at their door instead of actually confronting them. Discord is not your virtual property. Third party software in the form of bots is constantly used on discord all the time. If you don't want to be available to leisurely chat because you want to get some sleep then turn that phone off go offline and get some actual sleep.

The fact that you equate something like this to being violated shows just how insecure you are with how you interact with people on discord. Consent to something that doesn't belong to you doesn't exist, you don't consent to the use of bots on discord that can monitor server members, only when there's code that can pick you out of your little hiding spot. It's crazy.

Spoken like a toxic teen male with no family. Go back to class, kiddo. I don't turn off my phone because I have family with health issues. Who's self-centered now?

You also don't have a clue how privacy terms of service, and laws relating to such, actually work. If Discord devs allowed what you described, expect a lawsuit. It may be third party software, but it requires consent to be installed in the first place. There's nothing within the current terms where users consent to the application/software to forcibly changing settings against our will. That would mean Discord has access to our device to forcibly alter settings. At some point, a line is crossed between software and device settings. But clearly you're too ignorant in tech to understand where that line is crossed. You live in some authoritarian fantasy where people don't have rights to their account settings.

Leave the software development to the professional adults. Leave your toxicity in your basement.

"Spoken like a toxic teen male with no family."
That contributes nothing to your argument therefore is completely ignored

"You don't have a clue of how privacy terms actually work."
You don't seem to have a clue of what the actual privacy terms in discord are.

I like how you turn such a simple preposition into a twisted reality where you are being oppressed because your little settings are being altered against your will. If you read the discussion you would have known that what you said is completely false.

Lastly you start going on a tangent about authoritarian fantasies. I didn't bother finishing the rest of it because the rest does not contribute to your argument whatsoever.

It is arguable that this is not a matter of privacy whatsoever.

Gelynn      As a server Admin on more than 1 server  i need and want to know WHO  is in the server at all times  my own server i have specifically banned i HAVE and will continue to BAN people that insist on using the the invisible off line thing   you do not own the software it is not yours  if you do not want to be seen then Log OUT properly  but  as admins we need to know EXACTLY who is in our servers  .

This is not a Privacy issue at all it is a security issue  . as i say if you dont want to be seen then log out fully that way you wont be seen  this hidden login must be stopped   simple as .

Can you guys just let people have their privacy? Like there's nothing wrong with it. If people want to be seen offline they can be seen offline. Leave people alone? It's been 3 years since this post was made. If discord wanted to do it they would've already done so.
