APNG support
The desktop client itself seems to support apngs. However, the server resizes images before embedding -- leaving only the first frame as the embedded image (instead of an animation).
To clarify, I'm not asking for apng emojis or avatars, just embedded images.

Aight I'm unfollowing this issue and I move to Guilded, they have apng support Im out of discord, too slow dev

Guilded is far from perfect, its still WIP but for now its free and they innovate
Out of all recommendations I made for discord only 1 got into the finished product, the devs are way too slow

Now We Have APNGs In Form Of Stickers That Are Limited To 500 kb...What A Shit Job Discord Devs...

Absolutely shameful lack of action and response from devs on this.

Guilded does not support APNG avatars. Not even animated GIF avatars... Tested using Windows client on 2021-08-12.

Not my point, the point is discord devs don't even respond to this feedback thread that EVERYONE IS LISTENING TO

Well... there is some kind of response here: https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/jby5lo/why_are_stickers_apngs_meanwhile_we_still_cant/g8yr7i8
When you upload APNG avatar it is animated in preview mode but as soon as you crop it and accept it then it behaves like still frame. I don't really accept the performance argument because avatars could be animated only when focused or in profile view. Maybe it will change - who knows.

If APNGs aren't supported by android
THEN WE MUST BULLY ANDROID
Send me links where you successfully bullied android so I can bully too0 -
If something is not supported natively then you code it by yourself. It's not a big deal - it's just pictures in a series. They didn't add animated APNG avatars because they wanted to sustain smooth experience on low performance devices.

I've created a pull request to lilliput (Discord's image resizer and the component that currently strips frames from animated PNGs) that adds support for APNG files.
