Clearing Direct Message Option
I would like to have a option to completely clear direct messages with someone, so that you start from a clean slate so to speak, even if it is only cleared on your side
-
My issue with this, is I don’t want other people clearing my dms with them. If this goes into effect please make it only on the clearers side. I don’t want it to delete on both sides

This could easily be used to delete evidence for reports if someone tells you they reported you. -2 -
I guess this may be nice for bot conversations though. So you can clear like a ton of random things if you don't like it there. 2 -
why tho
-1 -
Surely we need an option to clear messages from a DM conversation on our side, but also we really need an option to unsend / purge any and all messages sent from our account in a DM.

up...

please add a feature to clear the chat with someone, but only on my side, don't need to delete the messages

As someone who occasionally closes DMs by accident or out of high stress I think this is a terrible idea.

I had someone send me some inappropriate photos and video links and now I can't delete it from my DMs. I can close it but I can't remove it. We need to be able to delete messages or photos from DMs.

I'd agree, it's a really good idea that I personally would want to see implemented, however, Discord doesn't do this as it would cause lot of server lag, imagine going back and deleting 2 years forth of messages for example, then imagine millions of people doing that, for that reason, I unfortunately doubt it'll ever become a feature -1 -
Solid agree, if not a “delete all” option for your own messages, possibly a mutual “Delete all” option? In which both users/all users if enabled in group dm - to all agree to purge said persons messages.
@Daffy - Do you know what MEE6 does on a daily basis?

How is this STILL not a thing.

why isn't this a thing yet? It's so annoying to have conversation you don't want to see, always here. Just add this feature c'mon guys :c you can keep the conversation, just let me hide it forever, ty c.c

Why is this still not a thing?

Come on Discord, is this too much for you to have a basic thing like this ?
4 -
Discord is being used for all kinds of purposes now therefore if they are going to have a software offering then they need to look at all items from a professional perspective. Not saying that they don't in general, but this is a much needed feature. Just telling an admin to delete a whole channel and start over is unacceptable. Someone running a server may not be able to do so 24/7 and there are PLENTY of posts that may not violate there terms of service or privacy concerns, but they do for the organization running it. I have no issue with paying for some type of subscription to run my server, but won't do so if really important things like being able to mass remove posts isn't there. I have a great example. My brother-in-law had a heart attack over the weekend. I naturally couldn't really monitor my server well enough. I should be able to go through and have an option to at the least have the ability to turn on a check box system that I can roll down through the messages and delete what I feel needs to be removed. I HAVE THIS FEATURE ON MY MESSAGES+ ON MY VERIZON PHONE OF ALL THINGS! But even though this has been a requested feature for a long time still no traction here. Bad form on Discord's part.

Whyyyyyyyyyy hasn’t it been done yet

Still hoping to see this getting added soon.

yes please

Why the hell on earth has this not been solved yet!

Guys it is not about relationships?! It is about a pathetic situation about a chat app does not have an option to delete messages. I am obsessive about messages existence and i want to start clean conversations. IT IS A MUST. you are doing some app but you do not let people to delete it? What!. Deleting app from my phone and pc. Until it is done.

WHY THE HELL IS THIS STILL NOT ENABLED????????????????????? WE NEED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm absolutely appalled that this isn't a standard feature, honestly. The end users have a right to privacy that clearly isn't being upheld here. The fact that the messages stick around even if the account is deleted and the program uninstalled is very worrisome. There is absolutely no reason that a messaging platform in this day and age shouldn't have a way for users to delete their messages.
I've considered deleting my account simply so I don't have to see the messages someone sent me that I can't delete. Sometimes it's not as simple as block the person, especially if they're part of work or school or something.

Wow guess I wont be using nitro since we cant delete messages

Seems like a missing feature that needs to be implemented. Users should always have complete control over how long their private data is available. Get on it Discord... it's been ages now.
4 -
Is anyone from Discord development even reading this? So many people all in agreement about a missing feature yet not a word, not any indication of this will ever become a thing.
5 -
I removed Discord and not using anymore because of this stupid problem. And yeah theres nobody from Discord development reading this. I wish they all go hell.

I actually need to delete the whole dm with one of my friends irl so my mom will stop asking if she's gay or if I'm gay. I'm not coming out of the closet to her just yet so right now I'm denying everything she thinks about asking.

This is against RGPD as not even deleting your account deletes your pms. Maybe getting spanked financially will shake them.
