Add way to search/jump to specific member in member list

Use case: Have a large 600+ person server, want to find a user to add a role to them. They have NOT said anything on the server yet so search can't pull up any messages to jump to and right-click their name in the main chat.

Current way for this situation is to add the role is to manually scroll down the member list to find the name. The scroll bar on large servers is microscopic relative to main chat's scroll bar, making it even more difficult than it should be. A way to jump to that person would be extremely helpful.

Only other alternative is if the user has entered something in chat before, you can jump to that post and right-click their name there to add a role.

    If you have the necessary permissions to go into Server Settings > Members you can search for users by name. Additionally, though not specific to your example, you can also filter the members by role

     

    Additionally, if you turn on the welcome announcements, it'll tell you when someone joins and their username will be clickable and roles can be added that way

    I agree that it would be nice to have a way to search for names in the chat. Usually, I just want to find my own name to see which role(s) I have since I have joined servers where this changes occasionally, and I lose track of where I sit in the members list.

    I would want to be able to view people's profiles directly from the search results as well for various reasons, primarily to check my roles. If you can set a nickname though, you can just pick one temporarily to make the scrolling easier.

    My opinion is that discord have worst UI what there is in any messaging software. It is just mesh. Example you cannot send private message by clicking user at conversation -> I must open member list and click user from that list. BUT there is no way to search from that list. So when you have 100 names and 10 groups in channel it usual takes minutes to find that person. 

    And this is just tip of iceburg but one of things why I just have use that. I cannot understand what kind monkeys have done that software.

    If they have not blocked you, send them a friend request, look at the friend request. Click the three dots and click message. you're in contact with them now

    I use discord as the main platform of communication for a non-profit organization that I run. Scrolling through a name list of over 250 people to assign roles is a hard job to do. Therefore, I think Discord should add a search box to find and interact with members.

    3 years and it's still not a thing :facepalm: Add the "super usefull" invisible scroll on its side, 2px wide, to the very nice UX and the frustration is granted.

    bruh, they never made a fix for this problem, like wtf man discord pay attention to user requests and actually make updates which people like. smh I am badly disappointed in discord
