Hyperlink Markdown
Now that Discord has the feature where it warns you when clicking an unidentified link, maybe it could be used to protect people who click on a Hyperlink.
A hyperlink is obviously like this, and it would be cool if we could embed a link in text so we don't have to clutter our posts with long links. Since Discord has the feature that warns you when heading towards an unidentified URL or domain, this could be used when people click on a hyperlink for security reasons.
It's been two years now, and Discord has been using Markdown for a while, so I'm quite surprised this is not in for normal member messages, considering bot embeds has it.

This feature was literally included in the recent Markdown update and worked fine, but when it was unrolled and rerolled out, suddenly the ability to hyperlink as a normal user was gone? Seriously, Discord?
I can't understand why the feature would be added and then suddenly removed. I even formatted my main server with the proper hyperlinks and whatnot, and now after the re-rollout, they're now broken and back to showing the link.

italian_christmas_donkey It has never worked as far as I can tell. I don't keep trying links every day, but I do periodically, particularly after updates on this thread. It wasn't working last week, or the week before, and it isn't working today.

it's been back for a while now, the un-rollout only lasted a couple days
italian_christmas_donkey no, it's still not available
this is how it looks like

Linar Khairullin I can't promise that this will work for you, but I have a suggestion. These features were not working for me, but then I was able to get them to work by forcing a reload with [Ctrl - R]. Hope that helps you or at least one person!

It's not working for me, even after ctrl-r...

Discord finially shared an update about this. Markdown links are rolled out to 5% of servers with more to come.

Aaaaand it is already being abused for nefarious reasons…

Hyperlink exists since internet exists, if you don't know on what you are clicking then it's a skill issue.

There's literally a popup that tells you where you're going. Its even well designed enough that it highlights the domain, helping protect against deceptive links (somewhat).
This popup means it's effectively the exact same as seeing the whole link, except that now that bit is now in the popup and out of the main body of the text. (finally)

Seems like it can be bypassed for now by clicking on link with middle mouse button.

If you own a 3-button mouse (I have not seen one in use in over a decade) then you should know the implications of using the middle button. “If you don't know on what you are clicking then it's a skill issue.”

If you own a 3-button mouse (I have not seen one in use in over a decade)…
You either use laptops exclusively (at which point they all have a trackpad gesture for middle mouse button), or you are unaware that the Scroll Wheel on every computer mouse IS a middle mouse button. You can push down on it and it will click a button underneath.

Middle clicking on Discord* still opens the popup, unless you have already whitelisted the domain
* Windows 10, Stable 226551 / 1.0.9017
ETA: you can still hover the link anyway even if you have whitelisted it (the functionality of markdown to add specific hover text* hasn't made it to Discord, which is probably a good thing).
If anyone from Discord is still reading this, I would appreciate a way to force the popup - maybe by holding control or shift (alt already marks the message unread)
*eg:
[This is Google](https://google.co.uk Hover text)
where the section after the link is the hover text and everything else works the same1 -
Works now

It doesn't work for links in your profile bio

It works now on iOS (version 218.0; JS build number 56072) and has the mentioned warning prompt.
Relevant pictures:
It also works on the Web-Version and the macOS app (macOS version: stable 273388 (23c3aba) Host 0.0.296 arm64 macOS 14 (23.0.0))
Thank you, discord devs, from the bottom of my heart, for adding this functionality <30 -
This thread should be marked as Solved/Implemented, no? Or just closed if it's a duplicate of another one.

No. They removed it again on the previous build 205.15 so it is not completed.
