Just adding my voice that I am having this issue as well. For example if I use Xsplit to have a background replacer with an american flag, I have to flip it in Vcam in order for it to appear the correct direction on Discord.

The only reason for discord NOT to fix this, is if they plan to try to sell their own version of background replacement effects and thus are intentionally breaking that of others.

This is super annoying. I also would like discord to add the feature to toggle mirror on camera.

As Neckro23 said, what others see is normal, but what I see is flipped, so when I point at something, I think I'm pointing at the right person, but they don't see it.

if you are doing it from the obs virtual webcam you can follow this guide https://www.streamscheme.com/how-to-flip-your-camera-in-obs/ , but still it would be nice to have an option to change this on discord

The core "problem" is that what you're seeing on your screen for a video chat is the mirror of what you're sending, so if you configure some floating text to appear properly in the preview it will be flipped when broadcast.

Just adding my voice to the choir of requests. Please add an "unmirror" switch!

Same here on Discord for Windows 10 without any additional software.

We really need a switch to change mirroring.

This post was made 2 years ago and still no fix for this issue!? Seriously? I teach music on discord, and I have a camera showing the bird's eye view of my piano to help students see what it going on with my hands. Since the image is reversed, it is completely disorienting, and counter-productive. Might have to switch to Zoom, tbh

Oh my @#$%in GOD, FIX THIS ALREADY, it's useless! We are the only ones who see a backwards image from our own camera feeds...why?

Nobody cares if our greasy faces look like they do in the mirror!

Exactly @Disorganized, if it is too much trouble to add an option, just save the cpu cycles and leave the video alone, no mirror would be better than no choice.

This is really irritating, can anyone tell me how to fix the inverted web cam issue?

Hey so, I found out something interesting. It's mirrored in the preview pane/speaker view, but it's normal on the viewer side.

Except, if you read other comments, you'd see other people have said that already. And other people (like me) have said they verified that in *their situation* the video was also reversed on the viewer's side.

I also have the same problem when I'm using my capture card

Thanks @neckro23! It is indeed only mirrored on my side, my viewers see it normal. Non-issue for me, then. Feeling embarrassed; sorry, good Discord people! I really should have read the manual once in a while.
(I still understand why some would prefer it non-mirrored on the speaker's side as well, but to me this is minor).

OBS looks fine, everything streams perfectly to other platforms but in Discord it's mirrored? Why? How is there no option to change this?

I'm  sure many are just as confused about this as I have been for quite a while. The camera image is NOT mirrored on the viewer's side, only at the lecturer's. Knowing that, I'm perfectly comfortable with how it is.

You may be comfortable, but there are still issues.

For instance, if you are recording the session, and you're going to have signs or such that you hold up, do you make them so the participants can see them right, or so they show up right on the recording?

Of course I totally understand the cases where one may require non-mirrored image from their own camera, and mentioned so in my previous message (the one before last).
Not meaning to neglect such cases, just a possible good news for those who, like myself, have been imagining it also flipped on the audience side.

Except for those of us who keep saying that our viewers told us the image WAS mirrored on their side...

Of course except for those. Wonder what may cause this. I tried it with several viewers and it was not mirrored on their side.

I am legitimately dumbfounded as to how this has not been fixed yet.

As far as I can tell the image is only mirrored in the local preview: other people who are watching see it the correct way around.
