Typo in Emoji file size limit [desktop app]
On the emoji upload page under server settings it is stated: "Emoji must be under 256kb in size."
This is confusing because the wrong units are used. The actual limit is 256 kilobytes, which should be denoted kB. )
Was incorrectly closed as being a duplicate of a post about emoji file size. The above post is a comment about incorrectly stating that the emoji must be under 256 kilobits (kb) when when it likely wants to use size in KiloBytes (KB).
Personally, I try to use base-2 prefixes with base-2 units (like Byte), and base10 with single-units like bits. It's usually considered poor form in to mix bases in scientific and mathematical computations, like using decimal prefixes with a power-of-two size (despite the SI standard, who's governing body should be ashamed at accepting industry pay for standardizing bad practice).
Think of how odd it would sound to use power-of-two prefixes with nouns indicating non-power of 10 measures, like 1.2 deka-dozen (12 dozen or 1 gross), or talking about gas mileage of 1 hecto-mile per deka-gallon. My ears cringe.
If they are talking about 'bits', that's a base unit, so using power-of-10 prefix 'k' would be entirely appropriate
