Nested folders for new Folders feature (+ some others)
Hey,
As some of you might've noticed, Discord has begun to push the new server folder organization feature which is pretty neat, but it feels like some minor details were left out. Here's a small list of ideas/improvements I have for it:
- Allow for Nested Folders, or subfolders. (Should be fairly self explanatory, could be very helpful if, for example, you are in many similar communities but would like to sort them in more detail)
- Prompt to create a new folder, possibly in the + tab that's present in the bottom of the guilds bar? (Not obvious that you can create folders without trying to, possibly add a prompt to do so when dragging servers around or as a third option along join/create in the Add a server menu)
-
Add a "This Folder" option to the recent mentions menu. (View all recent mentions specifically from guilds within a specific folder, potentially useful due to the nature of how servers will likely be grouped)
Any constructive additions/downsides are appreciated!

Yes, please.
I would call that recursive folders :P5 -
i would love to be able to place all of my folders in one folder so i don't ever need to look at them again.

Putting a folder in a folder would make a black hole

The problem is that it would make the limit of 99 servers useless, that there would be an infinity of floders! They added this feature, try to see adventures before finding him Defects

just do 2 folders

Unizornz, what about when you play a lot of games and are in all their different servers? You need a way to organize the servers by game type, and then have folders inside that "game-genre" that contain the games' official server (for updates/feedback) plus peer-created servers (the ones for friends n stuff). If not, it'll be a jumbled mess on the single column window that we have for a UI, meaning you will have to take extra time to scroll through stuff when it could just be simpler.

I don't really think we need this.

server thats unrequired because you shouldnt even have that many servers to need servers in server folders in server folders, and also naming Server Folders already exists, so does coloring them. -15 -
I think we need this. I would call it subfolders though.

I love the idea but think people would not because it would make folders complicated

Yes

Please add this, I have so many servers for various different games and communities I am in that I use for resources, discussion, etc. I definitely feel the lack of subfolders and I'm pretty sure that there are many like me (or not like me) that would appreciate this feature.

Completely agree. I wish android had it.

I think these should be added, for example, folder subdirectories:
- Games > Riot Games > Valorant, LoL
- Games > Rockstar Games > Grand Theft Auto > Vice City, San Andreas
- Games > Rockstar Games > Red Dead Redemption 2
- Codes > JavaScript
- Codes > C++
- Codes > Python
- BotList > Top.gg
- BotList > Discordbotlist.com
- Bot Support Server's > Dyno
- Bot Support Server's > Mee6
Examples could go on indefinitely, these are just the ones I can think of.

Since we are talking about subdirectories, I would add that the GUI could definitely use some refinish, especially if integrating them!
i.e. extend to the right of 1 column when opening them or even toggle them, so they stay always opened! i.e. for rapid switching when participating in discussions happening in more than a server. For me, it would be:
- games > game
- communities > community
- leaning > discipline
- software > type of software
- art > software / type
- news > category of news
Also, I would point to the "space" feature of Element (Matrix), where every room can exist in more than a space. Highly useful feature! i.e. software and art can share the same sub-folder since the server is about both!
