    It is a necessary function.
I agree with you very much.

I don't know why it doesn't have this function,

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I recently dealt with a stalker in a server I mod for. We eventually gave him the boot, but he is still in several other servers I love being in. He would take the things I say, twist them out of context, and then use them against me. This is not someone I want seeing my posts on other servers. But he still can despite me having him blocked.

It’s a serious privacy issue, and it is something Discord needs to address if they care about the safety of their users.

It has gotten to the point where I am considering deleting this account, and just making a new just to get rid of him.

    RE:CoachMax

That's exactly the kind of situation I'm worried about.

Privacy issues such as these should be handled with care, and discord not allowing some kind of safety method for us is like telling us that whatever that's happening is our own business.

I was hoping to find a post like this, because this needs to addressed by Discord, and should have been a thing since the beginning of the service being a thing.

When I block someone, I want them GONE from my sight, COMPLETELY.
I don't want to have to see them in the member lists of servers I'm in, and I don't want to see their messages in the servers, but just under a filter that a simple click can take away, letting me see what they have posted.

I honestly thought the whole point of blocking someone was to not have any way to see, or contact them, and for them to not see or have any way to contact you. But apparently for discord it's just a silly little filter where they still wave the person you blocked in your face, no matter the reason behind why you blocked them — from simple annoyance to the fact they might be your abuser, or stalker, like what CoachMax above has to deal with.

I have a friend who is stressed and honestly terrified about joining a server for an art event because he knows his ex is in the server, and seeing messages from the ex is upsetting for him. He had to leave a server focused on something he likes because his ex started to post more regularly in that server, and he couldn't handle having to see all these blocked messages in any channel he went into.
He has even been told by therapist to block his ex on everything so he doesn't have to see him, but that is impossible to do when discord has such a weak way of blocking people.

Hopefully Discord is working on this, but until progress is shown, I'm not going to hold my breath, and take things with a grain of salt.

    RE PandoranMama:

I am sorry to hear what your friend is going through right now :c And I am sure there must be a lot of people out there who shares his experience.

Again, hope Discord can address this kind of situation head on instead of putting out this current (and pretty much useless) function that does nothing but add more complication to our lives.
