role placement things
So I manage military/militia things for the most part. In a military, you will always have divisions that aren't necessarily higher or lower than eachother in authority. To explain the problem I am having, let's lay out a situation.
Situation 1. Bob is an engineer. Taylor is a medic. Bob's role is higher than Taylor's in the Discord server even though in battle Taylor's role isn't lower than Bob's. This causes Bob to think he can command Taylor and ultimately pulls Taylor away from his job because he's going along with the role rankings too.
Situation 2. Their roles aren't shown separately and are lower than the common role. Nobody knows what other people's jobs are, which is arguably worse than Situation 1.
Situation 3. Their roles aren't shown separately and are higher than the common role. The color coding works fine for experienced soldiers, but not new folk who don't know the colors and need to look for labels, which means huge lag upon clicking if they are using the desktop app. Those seconds matter in battle. This is better than S2 and S1, but not good enough.
WHAT I PROPOSE:
You could have equal roles. They would collapse upon eachother in the member list, and then you could expand it to see a full rank tree. Please, Discord, I am so tired of having to explain to a bajillion noob recruits on why Bob was wrong to command Taylor etc

I suggest Op. 2 plus the soldiers put a small indicator on their name like, medics put MED next to their names. also there are roles that actually separate the people, LR, MR, HR, SHR and so on. This way our example, they all fall in the LR category. And for example if the medics are good, they can get promoted to experienced medics (EMED)

I think that that could be OK for smaller servers with less people and shorter names but that's got to push the limits for some names, and plus when you get to bigger servers with maybe 15 or 20 people per role you can't be scrolling that much something's got to cut it in half

Good idea
