Set Ban default to: delete no messages / Delete, Report and Ban option
When banning a user, the default option in the ban interface for deleting messages is to delete all messages of the user within the last 24 hours.
However, oftentimes messages of a banned user need to stay in the server to be used as evidence in a report to Trust and Safety (eg. using the DAR function).
Discord even recommends to leave the message history of a user intact whilst banning on the moderation academy pages:

My suggestion: set the default option to "delete none" to make sure that no evidence is deleted in a hurry (eg. when a user needed a very urgent ban and the respective moderator forgets to swap the default to "delete none").
Alternatively (but this would be a bit more work to implement) there could be a Delete, Report and Ban function similar to the DAR function when removing messages.

Honestly, it needs to be delete, report, and ban. Some messages should not be left up, especially in larger servers which may see traffic purely from those there to harass and those messages should not be left up for any lengthy period of time. Being able to submit the users prior X messages to trust and safety should be an option and one that should be used only for situations where that team should be involved (or potentially experience penalties on the submitting moderators account if they're using it as a means to harass users instead of legitimate reports). Generally any situations that require a kneejerk ban to remove the offending content, this should be sufficient.

Coan I agree it would be the best solution to have a report function inbuilt as "Delete, Report and Ban". It would be way safer, and would also easen the report of raids as well as you point out, fasten the process of banning and deleting correctly to be able to report later.

It used to be set to 'delete nothing' by default, I'm sure. Now I deleted a bunch of stuff from someone I banned when I didn't intend to.
