Links are way too long, if you try to make a list of important messages or something it gets really damn ugly. I have a couple of suggestions to improve this:
- Not using links, but rather a symbol + the ID. For example, just like you can point to a channel doing #channel-name, you could point to a message doing &361067994279761569 (bonus points if instead of displaying the link it displays a little embed/widget/whatever that displays the message or part of it.
- Make them shorter. Right now the link is structured like this (if I understand it correctly): server_id/channel_id/message_id. The message IDs seem to be unique, unless I'm missing something it should be possible to internally obtain the server and channel the message belongs to and only require the message ID in the link. That would shorten it greatly.
- Add some kind of markdown-like formatting for links, which would be beneficial for many other things, for example: [click here](https://discordapp.com/link-to-the-message-or-something).
Please, consider this. It would be a massive improvement and I would see way more people using it to reference messages.
