using browser should be improved
i setup my pc once or twice a year and discord is not necessarily one of my priorities when thinking of the things to do after new installation. and so i stopped counting how many accounts i already have.
it is a shame that after getting an invite you can "claim the account" but not "login with account", even though the mailadress is already known and even is sugguested in the inputbar (which is because of the browser, i know, but the google profile remembers... discord does not and even denies that).

I've just run into this same issue. When I followed an invite link, I didn't realise I was logged out of Discord. It asked me to choose a nickname and my date of birth, which I presumed was to do with the server I was joining. It was not until I saw the warning to claim this account that I realised I was not logged in. I tried logging in with my Discord account and it said that this email is already registered.
Discord's "Email is Already Registered" support article on this error was not at all helpful! It said to reset my password in an incognito browser Window. All this did was result in my Discord account having a new password. When I tried claiming my account on the main Firefox browser window using the new password, it just kept giving the same error that this email is already registered.
The only thing I could do was enter another e-mail address, which ended up setting up a new Discord account. Discord has no option to merge this with my other account either. As I rarely participated on the server I used on my other account, I decided to delete that account. Once it's fully deleted, I'll try changing the e-mail address on my new account to what it was.
So I also agree that Discord should let one login with their existing account if they accidentally click an invite link while logged out.
