Blocked Messages Be Actually Blocked!
-
I don't block a lot of people but if I do, it's usually because they have harassed, made me uncomfortable, etc... And the last thing I need is to be pinged, see a channel light up, etc by people I block. If we block someone, we DO NOT WANT TO ENGAGE WITH THEM. We don't want them to see us. We do not want to see them.

Guys, people have been asking for this for multiple years. Whether or not you as the developers agree with it, it's needed. Stop telling everybody they're wrong and just take the feedback.

Oh my god how is this still active? Yall amazing

@cheesecake~ I will tell ya how, because this is important! Discord needs to listen to its users for once!

Just blocked for the first time. It was a spammer. So much for that...
Discord gets the award for most useless block feature on the planet.

i blocked someone for sending horrible videos and i can still see their messages by tapping it and they can still ping me?? i dont want them to ping me just to show me those terrible videos. block feature is useless

Not sure if it's a recent change but I swear not too long ago blocked users couldn't reply, but now I'm seeing a blocked user reply to me even. One would think blocking would be paramount to a functional social media tool to help prevent harassment and bullying. This is pathetic.

You would think software made by people openly part of the furry and LGBT community would understand the importance of two-way blocking and anti harassment features. You cannot claim to be an ally and against hate on your platform without providing this extremely basic function. There is no excuse at this point.

I don't mind that this setup is a thing for some people, but frankly I don't want the ability to look at blocked messages because I'm always going to be tempted to read them. It's bad enough that I have to be aware any time someone I've blocked is talking. A setting to disable this would greatly reduce the ease of just reading blocked messages.
It's also a pathway of abuse to be able to @ and reply messages you've blocked, something Discord has a poor history of grasping.

Yes please, the actual "Block" isn't blocking anything, it's a "Hidden" feature. "Would you like to hidden their messages?"
A real "Block" feature has to really block the User, I do NOT want read his messages, I do NOT want to know they are here and I really do NOT want to "Would you like to show this blocked messages do know what says?"
You can Add the option to "Hidden or Block" but we need a real block.1 -
Definitely agree. But when I block someone, not only can’t I see any of their messages and no longer can ping them, it should be the same for them. They shouldn’t be able to ping and see any messages from me. That still makes them respond or attack. So, what’s the point. Blocking should be making the blocker feel safe from the person they blocked. It’s either a personal, safety, or mental health reason to block them.

This is needed badly.

Cheesecake here on my new account. This is such a needed feature still. Blocked means BLOCKED. Its like a restraining order but the court was like "ye but he might not have MEANT to be near you, smh"

Hello yes, I would like to express the need for a true block as well.
Not clickable would be nice, not visible at all would be better. Not showing the messages citing the blocked user would be even nicer and not showing notifications for blocked activity would be perfect (or vice versa, I'm not sure).
One way is the bare minimum. A unilateral 2-way block would be nice too, although not as critical, I think.
I could really use the peace of mind of not having to deal with the utterly annoying while being able to continue to engage with my otherwise peaceful communities.3 -
Upvoted for **** sake.

This is a very simple function. It is also the most necessary function.1

Can we push that post somehow? I support that idea.

It's been 4 years! Why is this still an issue?
