Discord voices too loud after last update
Last day i updated discord and my headset broken with discord. I using razer synapse and my program doesnt see discord. Everyting is too loud like %1000.I've tried restart pc and restart discord, reinstall discord and reinstall synapse but doesnt fix.Can anyone help me?

Still getting this same issue, identical to how many others describe it. I am using Razer Man'o'War. It may be a problem with Razer Synapse but the issue was not present until one of the recent Discord updates, so it's something that changed on Discord's end

I had the same problem for months and it was driving me crazy....I had the new Razer synapse software for my mouse and keyboard, but I had the old Razer synapse for my headset. But now, I fixed it! The thing that I did was turning my old Razer synapse software off, and only use my new software. I disabled my old Razer software from starting up when I turn my pc on so it cant start up from itself now. After that, my Discord problem was solved! (so you have no software running for you headset now, so it's nog exactly what you want, but now the hard discord sound is solved...)
-open taskmanager
-go to the tab "startup"
-disable discord
-restart your pc
and hopefully it's solved (this was what worked for me)

Same problem, only fix for me is restarting discord 2 to 5 times everytime it happens (which is of course annoying both for me and all the other people in the call/ channel).
I have Razer Krakens 7.1 and do also have 2 separate volume sliders in the volume mixer. How is this not getting a fix or any attention from the discord team? Having this bug go off is literally deafening - it's not only frustrating but it f ucking hurts

I'm having the exact same issue as described here, I have a Razer Man'O War headset and see the two discord instances in the volume mixer.

I'd had issues with Razer synapse 2.0 (legacy) in the past so I'd already disabled it under task manager>Startup. That being said, I'm still experiencing this issue too, so I'd be surprised to see how razer synapse 2.0 (legacy) is causing this issue if it's not running when it happens on my computer...
For chappie's solution:
This also intermittently solves my problem. If I restart discord a couple times, sometimes it'll go away. If it doesn't, sometimes a computer restart solves it. However sometimes the issue persists through these two steps, and then the only way I got it to stop was to uninstall and then reinstall razer synapse 2.0 (that program is required for my headset to work apparently :/). Reconfigured my headset, then immediately turned that software off again because it eats CPU resources like nothing else. Then and only then did it solve it this time around. No idea what i'll have to do next time this issue pops up, as it's happening multiple times a day now. Wtf discord, and wtf razer for not getting your legacy headsets compatible with synapse 3 yet. It's been years. Shame on them.

what worked for me is pulling out and reinserting the usb, still an annoying bug that needs to be fixed.

for me its also totally random, pulling out and reinserting the usb is just one of the things which may solve the issue if done couple of times

I have the same issue and it's driving me crazy.
Sometimes it helps to restart the PC but not always.
Please fix this issue asap.1 -
only way it works for me is when i uninstalled synapse, which isnt ideal but its a fix

Following up after my last comment - the issue is now constant for me in discord, but the issue has also started happening with other games on my computer, (Final Fantasy XIV for example). Realizing that it may be a Razer specific issue and not necessarily caused by discord? idk. If it's happening to me for other games now, discord may not be the source of my specific issue.
Unfortunately for Razer, I ordered a new headset from another company. Will follow up if I continue to see the issue with this new headset. Not a solution for everyone, I know. But it was coming time for a new headset for me anyways so I'll sacrifice myself to the testing and troubleshooting gods and let everyone know how it goes : /

I've been having this issue for over 2 months now. @Nedaap's solution above worked first try, absolutely amazing. Discord tech team needs to figure out this bug and get it resolved.

Well i got little workaround, but its still annoying... if its loud, someone on channel keeps his push to talk button pressed for longer time (without talking to not destroy my eardrums) and i just leave and rejoin channel during that.. seems to fix volume until next program restart or disconnect. can do same with music bot if u got it on server, make it play something and leave/rejoin. maybe works for some of u too

Discord is currently working on it atleast that is what their support told me after i sent in a report with all the information about the problem.

Got the same problem. I have the Razer kraken headset and i can "fix" it if i restart my pc of unplug and plug in my headset or if i close discord but i have to do it several times and than i have normal sound

My girlfriend is having the exact same problem with the same headset and nothing seems to help. Even if Razer Synapse is deactivated and does not start on boot, the problem persists.

My friend found a work around that worked for me but isn't ideal as I have some issues with push to talk in games and had to sent my mic to just on all the time.
If you have windows, go to Settings > Sound > Under Output select Troubleshoot> select Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma and press next > Yes open Audio Enhancements.
This will open a new window called Headset Earphone Properties. Select Advanced tab> Under excluse mode uncheck Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device. then restart your computer. This isn't ideal as you will have issues with some games overlay interface and push to talk issues.

Because I am encountering the same problem with skype, I think it's a problem with the headset or windows, and not discord.

My friend just encountered the same problem, sadly it seems to be a problem with the same headset, Razer Kraken 7.1. It's really weird that it fixed itself after using Ctrl + R, giving a heads up.

I solved the problem. Just remove the Razer Sinapse 2.0 app and voila. Everything works well now.

I have the same issue with Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma USB issue is I can not remove Synaps 2.0 because I use my keyboard with it as well ;\

The keyboard probably works with synapse 3.0. It does not have the same problem that 2.0 has..

Hey all. Wanted to drop some comments. To start I have a Razer Man-O-War wireless headset.
So when you are looking at your volume settings the 2 different discord sliders are normal. One will control your volume for discord notifications (message pings and the like) while the other controls your incoming volume for voice chat. I have also been having the same issue with discord getting extremely loud. My task manager is showing 6 different instances of discord running while having the volume issues. Seems like unplugging the bluetooth receiver and plunging it back in is the most reliable method of fixing the volume for me.Hopefully a fix will come around soon because it can get to be painfully loud and makes me consider not using discord due to it.
