For example, you can select several channels which you want to edit the permissions of and apply the changes to all the selected channels. When you have a lot of channels in one category and they all belong in that category but you want to be seen for example different tiers of ranks you can select the channels which are above the first rank and then gradually go up till the last rank is reached
