Reporting harassment and abuse
Your app has survived into the MeToo age, and has not changed your terms of use to enable victims of abuse via your app to report harassment and abuse. Abuse and harassment are subtle, and abusers are crafty. For instance, the person who harassed me and several others on this app is still able to access those they feel are prey. This is because this user crafts their messages one sentence at a time, and grooms their prey over a longer period of time. So, when they start actually asking inappropriate questions to the victims or soliciting illicit images or content, it isn't just one message, it's 60, 100, 200 messages that each need individually reported. This person gaslights their victims, and when boundaries are set, they delete all of their messages to their victims so that even if the victim reports, there is no evidence. I reported that I strongly suspected that this user was a predator on July 28th of 2019. I'm now seeing reddit posts springing up about how this user, who has multiple accounts on the platform, has solicited inappropriate pictures from minors and is continuing to harass people online THROUGH YOUR PLATFORM. I have a cache of the entire conversation I had with this person and their alternate account, happening simultaneously, where I was gaslit, and made to believe that I was a bad person for recognizing the red flags I was seeing. Which I'm glad I took screenshots, because this user, and their multiple accounts deleted both of the conversations, and then blocked me so that I am now unable to look up their ids.
DO BETTER. We need a better system to report not only singular messages, but entire conversations, entire direct message threads and entire servers that are guilty of sexual harassment/ abuse, targeted harassment, and any other kind of illegal activity on your platform.
