Discord has been currupted on my pc and I cannot fix it or uninstall it
Discord stopped being usable about 5 days ago for me, so I tried to go to the setup and uninstall then re-install. However, I get an "installation has failed" popup before anything even has the time to run. I tried going to my setting and uninstalling the app, and it will not let me, saying that the app is not found on my hard drive. how do I fix this?

I am having the same issue.
But also, when I try and delete discord from the localappdata folder, it says I do not have admin permission, which I do as I am the owner.

if your on Windows 10
Hold the start button and click 'I'
go to apps look for discord and click on it
click on "Uninstall" and wait for it to finish-12 -
I had tried that before I even posted on here. My computer says that it could not find 'C:\Users\my name\Appdata\Local\Discord\Update.exe.'
It suggested I find the file and made sure it was properly named. However, it was working fine up until it suddenly stopped and it will not allow me to run Discord setup to reinstall it.

I am having trouble uninstalling as well. Trying to use the add remove program section of windows 10 doesn't seem to do anything.

Had the same problem, couldn't uninstall from Control Panel - Programs - Programs and Features
Then tried downloading the installer and running it, got a small error box pointing me to SquirrelSetup.log, where the line:
"IEnableLogger: Failed to remove existing directory on full install, is the app still running???: System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Discord\app-0.0.305\chrome_100_percent.pak' because it is being used by another process." gave me a clue.
Opened the Task Manager, under Background Processes there were two Discord processes running (even after multiple restarts). Clicking one and hitting End Task removed both of them. Ran the installer and got a clean install.
Hope this helps someone.

TozePataniscas That actually didn't work for me it says that I am not able to delete those folders so It didn't work.

@SCRT30 try right clicking and opening it as a file and then deleting it from there.

I had the app refuse to uninstall and when I tried to download is again (in the hopes that it would overwrite) it failed. I solved the issue by downloading the setup then opening file explorer and going to where the download was saved. I then right clicked and selected run as admin and it worked. Discord seems to be fully operational now. I hope this helps someone.

I can't uninstall \%appdata%\Local\Roaming\Discord because of a file called "TransportSecurity" i can't rename, move or delete that file, it's stuck there and i can't modify it anywhere, i can't believe they still didn't fixed this smh.

I had the same problem, I just found someones comment on a microsoft forum and this worked for me!
To delete the application data, open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows key and the R key together.
Type %AppData% and hit the enter key.
Locate the folder Discord and delete it.
Open the Run dialog box again and type %LocalAppData%.
Locate the folder Discord and delete it.
If you can't delete it because it's open run task manager and end task for discord then it should work! then just re install discord and it loads fine

I have the same problem, except it won't let me open or delete any files that have to do with Discord, The task manager doesn't have Discord on it, but my resource monitor says it is still running. I've been trying everything that this forum has said already, but no use. Any more ideas?

Dreamhawk, when mine had it still running, there was no app running, just 2 background processes. Something to check.

I just went into settings, then went to update and security, and it turned out I didn't have my windows up to date, so I updated it, and when My computer rebooted it just started discord normally again! Hope this works for someone.

Check your windows update and security. I had the same problem I did. What happened was that I gave up on discord, then realized Steam also wasn't opening, then checked the internet for solutions, and found that I had to check update and security to fix steam, so I updated it, and then installed discord again, and it worked.

AYO I FOUND A SOLUTION
If any of you are students and have a lock down browser install, running it will force close all discord apps or connected software. You then can delete the folder without the error message. If you dont have the browser, downlod respondus lockdown browser, install it, and run it. Then it will shut down all communicative apps. Then delete discord, and you should be able to reinstall. I know using such a backwards shortcut sucks, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
Best of luck!
