Appealing Account Bans

It’s their server and their rules. They lay it out quite clearly in the terms of service:

    >The Company may terminate your Account and your access to the Service (or, at the Company's sole option, applicable portions of the Service) at any time and for any reason. The Company is not required to provide you with any notice or warning prior to any such termination. You may, as the result of termination, lose your Account and all information and data associated therewith, including without limitation your Virtual Currency and Virtual Goods, as applicable, and the Company is under no obligation to compensate you for any such loss.

When I see this type of language I accept that my relationship with them may be temporary and so don’t try to make any long term investment in the service. I will never buy their virtual goods or currency so they will have nothing of value to take away should they decide to terminate.

"I don't know what the process is for deciding whether or not an account gets banned, but no such process is flawless."

No, certainly not. I had my old account for 4 years, never partook in anything breaching TOS, and was banned without explanation or warning overnight. My insistent emails have thus far reached a bot.

    What terrible customer service.

All these posts are scaring me. My account got banned 2 days back for a false accusation and I sent an appeal request with detailed proof including 34 attachments and some 15 message links. I clearly know that I am not at fault. But I just came to the discord support page and searched "ban appeal" and there are like 1500 posts telling that appeal is useless discord doesn't care etc.

I own something like 10 servers and have some 250 friends from my main account. I have so much information and stuff required for the running of the servers, but after I saw all this, I have lost my hopes of getting back my account.

Same here. Many leaving Discord because of that. They talk about Safety and Trust but it is really not given here. In this Community are much more Criminals feed than in any other platform. And they are well protected by Discord. You enter their environment, you accept their rules, and have basically no rights other than leave. Think about it. However great the features are, it is to attract as many people as possible but kept are only two types of people: People who are either minor or People who are lieing about their age, gender, etc. There are just a few like 1% above 18 and have not experienced a ban. And we all know that the real criminals who deserve it most, are still online and will always be. If Discord would follow their own TOS, it would help a lot. But sad thing is, they dont have to, so they dont and wont.
