More Specific Error Message for Disallowed DMs

I recently left a server only to discover that Discord was unhelpfully informing people that I was not accepting their DMs.  This is blatantly untrue.  I have no option to accept their DMs without rejoining the server or asking a mutual friend to ask them to send me a friend request.

I've been told that multiple users think that I never want to hear from any of them ever again, simply because they don't know Discord well, and have taken that error message to heart. People tentatively reaching out to me on other platforms, and apologising in case I think it was rude of them to want to contact me. It makes me look like an a******.

Be honest, and have the error message put the blame where it actually lies. "Discord does not allow Direct Messages to people you are not friends with, or do not share a server with."
