messages left behind deleted accounts should be deleted / removed
discord needs to do better at providing protection for their users. what they're doing now with deleted accounts isn't enough and needs to be done better. simply putting a deleted account as 'anonymous' isn't enough, and the way discord does it is pretty weak to begin with. the id number of deleted accounts remain the same, and being marked as anonymous only really works when the account (or well, user) was fully anonymous to start with. discord users when they first make their account aren't 'anonymous', they're people who chat with friends in their DMs or servers. all discord does is remove the person from their messages and in many cases that's not enough. what discord ultimately does is make the original person lose access to their messages / data and indirectly give whoever has access to the past messages shared more power over the data than the person who originally sent it. what makes it worse is after the official 'deleting' of the account, there's nothing the original owner can do, discord doesn't help you out during or after this, and many people don't find out until it's to late.
when an account is deleted, the messages should be deleted, simple. i understand that deleting messages left behind in servers for an account can be difficult, that's why it takes about 30 days or more to get a data package, but it's not impossible and discord really needs to do something about this. every other platform of media does this, heck instagram can even remove the comments left behind deleted accounts on their app. the least discord can do is delete the messages left behind in dms for deleted accounts. why can't they expire over time or have the dms of deleted accounts permanently shut and not allowed to reopen for the other user who they once dmmed?
this is soley for safety and privacy reasons. even if the person didn't leave anything personal behind, i still feel like they have the right to wish to have their messages removed / deleted. people have the right to longer feel comfortable about the information they once shared. a selfie, text, phone number, personal private social media link, etc at the time could have been safe to share with a person or people at the time but things can change and people can change. people can use these things against you once they get angry or upset by another person. this has happened before, this is nothing new. people have been doxxed over the dumbest things like not liking a video game or a music artist.
discord, please listen to this request that has been left by numerous of people on feedback for ages. at least start to work on it or something, this is to important of an issue / request for you guys to continuously ignore and literally do nothing about. i never understood why this wasn't an automatic given to begin with. please think about the protection of your users and do something about this.

I agree with you completely. You said everything that I thought. In 2018, I was falsely accused of serious things, because there was someone who misunderstood my intentions. I received an "apology" for what was said about me, but they continued to spread misinformation even afterwards. Unfortunately, I deleted all of my messages maybe about a year after the incident happened (nothing incriminating), because I wanted to try and forget about the situation. I have now realized that the direct messages can still be accessed from the other people, and they could probably suggest that the reason why I deleted all of my messages was due to them incriminating me (not true). I suffer even more from anxiety and depression now out of fear of it ruining my credibility in future endeavors (i.e. career(s)). Discord needs to protect its users right to privacy. I don't feel safe anymore.
