A simple email confirmation for email address changes tied to an account would save so many people from having their accounts stolen

A friend of mine recently had his account stolen. The thief changed the email without any sort of confirmation to the original email. I've also seen someone else who had this happen to them too. A simple email confirmation would prevent these things from happening most of the time.

    And why did people change their email? as the data shows(public from google database) most people change there email is because they lost their old email or is not available anymore.

    @fengfanyue account thiefs do that. I don't know why, but it has happened to me in the past as well. I guess it's so you can't undo what they've done, or bother them while they use your email/account for nefarious purposes? It does happen though. I think this needs to be done too. It's super simple and every other company I can think of does it.

    So basically if you lose access to your previous email account, your account would be at risk if you ever forget your password? Since you can't confirm the email address change anymore.

    2FA is there to prevent account theft.

    Most security issues are by human, bing how to stay safe (add a pc in the back or is about covid - for people that’s in covid).
