Seconding this. It's somewhat embarrassing to accidentally message someone while trying to add a note to their name.

There are several ways you can do this in Outlook. Which method works best for you depends mainly on how long your note is going to be and how much formatting you’ll be needing.

Aside from several methods within Outlook itself, you can also rely on other applications or add-ins that can integrate with Outlook.

I believe you're missing the point. My notes are short. I don't need Outlook, and shouldn't, to add/edit a note on a profile. My point is that when I choose "Add note" or "Edit note", that's what should happen. The cursor should be in the NOTE box.

It's embarrassing to me and confusing to the recipient when my personal note goes out as a message, just because the cursor had defaulted to the wrong box.

It's a bug, and I would appreciate it if it would be fixed.

oh it's more than somewhat embarassing, if you're trying to add a note that is somewhat uncomplimentary to a person. I'm too afraid to use notes at all now.

My notes aren't usually uncomplimentary, but they are cryptic and embarrassing, definitely not meant to be viewed by anyone else. Since I run a guild for an MMO, and we have people hop into our server occasionally to help us with 12-person content, that's the sort of note I might enter. Date joined, who invited them, what we were running. It's really confusing to someone to get a message that says something like that!

And it's still not fixed. Every. Single. Time. It defaults to "message" instead of "note" when you choose note. It's not an occasional bug, or user error.

It shouldn't be that hard to fix! And it used to work correctly, so at some point, someone broke it. I really wish they'd fix it.
