Discord should absolutely delete the messages of deleted users for privacy purposes.
One of Discord’s biggest issues is the fact it just leaves messages from deleted accounts in an endless stasis. This has been an ongoing issue and has been constantly complained about for years and constantly voted for, yet has not ONCE been addressed by staff for some unknown reason. It’s making me question if Discord even reads feedback.
It should go without saying that this is a massive privacy issue that has affected several people, especially since several deleted accounts have personal info in messages that could potentially be found and used with malicious intent. This absolutely needs to be seen and addressed, messages staying after account deletion is an unnecessary and dangerous feature that desperately needs to be fixed. There are several benefits to an absolute deletion, but I can’t think of a single valid reason to keep messages of deleted accounts besides maybe conversation flow, which has no good reason to be put over ensured privacy
