Allowing officially recognised co-ownership in servers
TL;DR: Discord should allow servers to be run via co-ownerships instead of concentrating on only one user.
Right now, there is only one Discord-recognised owner of a server and many servers these days often have co-owners.
Yet, a Discord server could be in chaos if the server owner is the only mod and the person's no longer active owing to real-life circumstances.
Allowing official co-ownership on Discord's part may help to alleviate the problem of potential server disorders. So here's what I'm proposing:
- When a user decided to create a server, they can select whether to run it themselves or with co-owners. If they're unhappy with the management mode, they can reverse the decision later too.
- The server owner will be able to pick the co-owners of the server by their merits. However, to prevent the server owner from making everyone a co-owner, there should be a limit for co-ownership application.
- Those co-owners will be recognised and given the equal perms of "managers" by Discord. Yet, only the server owner can delete the server. This is to prevent a co-owner from doing whatever they want.
- If the server owner is inactive for more than a month, then Discord reserves the right to transfer the server ownership to the most active co-owner on the server at that time. This ensures that there can be someone who'll be able to take care of the server online.
So people, thoughts on this idea?
