2FA Factor Codes

Can we change how 2fa works? Discord is the only website i know of that still uses backup codes that you get once and only once, why cant we make it to where if we need a new code it sends it to our email similar to twitter/epic games etc 2fa works, you sign in it sends you a code and boom your in, you reset your password it sends you a code and boom new password. Heres why i want this to be the new 2FA, In late december 2020 i got hacked by a couple people, granted it was my fault for clicking the links they sent me, but once it was out of my grip i contacted discord support immediately, and after about 2-3 months of hassle with discord sending me to new people and asking me the same questions, waiting a couple weeks to reply to my emails back i finally got the account back, BUT i had 2fa enabled, when they reset my email and disabled my password, i cant get in without resetting my password, but i also need those backup codes (which i think are on a broken iphone 5) that i dont have so now im locked out of my account with friends i dont have contact to because who keeps their friends name and id written down? i even had the early supporter badge and im still kinda mad i lost that
